I got three in total - all from the first run. I would buy one, be unhappy with it, sell it, and buy another one. After the 3rd, I called it quits.
From your satisfaction, it looks like I should have been a tad more patient

I wasn't patient so much as not willing to stray from BBTS at the time even though I really wanted him. Seeing the third run for pre-order on CP was something I couldn't resist in the end and just happened to get lucky on quality (I didn't know about the earlier QC issues). Sometimes being stupidly stubborn can pay off I guessmegatronus wrote:Arctorro wrote:What run was that from, I got one from the third (and final) run and, apart from slightly lose ankles, he is great. I just went to my display to fiddle with them. It seems like something that happened to more than one person, so I won't say anything like it being an isolated issue, but my own ST seems alright. One wings is somewhat tight, but I didn't need a scary amount of force to move it or anything.

Glad to hear yours is good, but the bit I bolded seems to be the precursor to the ball joint breaking. Yours most likely isn't tight enough to be a problem though.Gauntlet101010 wrote:Arctorro wrote:Be very careful with Squawktalk's wings, the ball joints are incredibly fragile. I've got a lot of fansproject stuff more than any other Third party.
And I must say I'm either really happy with it or extremely disappointed.
my Major disappointments are
Defender: Overly and unnecessarily complex. It is hard to stand out of the box with it's small feet but impossible when its knees grind to dust. And now its completely obsolete.
T-Bone: transformation is scary as hell. I even ripped off a panel while being extremely careful.. and transforming this guy hurts my fingers... lol
Code: fun transformation and all I get it but wow does it look plain. lack of articulation is whatever I expected it since its been talked to death. but its torso is just a box? I don't know lots of people love it but its very vanilla no?
Rodimus upgrade: It doesn't even look like Rodimus when upgraded, most of the trailer is unused!!! I do like it in alt mode.
Biggest disappointment by far would be PE's pink Motobot Arcee that lots here have already mentioned. It's transformation is a pain. everything is very fragile. The worst part for me anyway is it does not homage Arcee much at all. It was a stand in and I don't feel like it was doing a good enough job standing in so even with no replacement out I decided to sell it.

I do like Code, but he definitely looks out of place next to the other Function-X figures.

I have the same feeling but probably won't use the word boring but lonely. That's why I decided to wait and not open my Fortis and put my Bovis back in to box and wait until all Predacons are assembled.Banjo-Tron wrote:This is going to sound odd but so far I have found the first 2 of MMC's Predacons underwhelming. I can't really put my finger on it - it's like they are way too big, and I just find them a bit boring.
For me, since I don't buy and own that many............
First is the FP Protector set. The armor didn't have the feeling to make Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime and the trailer was useless except the alt mode. The shoulder's articulation is also oddly positioned and designed. I've sold it and so far, it's the first and only 3rd party stuffs I've sold.
Then is the FP Defender. I got him second handed. Luckily the knees are okay. I then have to create a pair of artificial heels for him to be able to stand and pose. The tiny ring on the peg thing of the blades that is used to peg in on the helicopter mode broke off but it was fixed by applying some super glue. The fiddly transformation doesn't bother me that much and he is now still my classics Springer. Hasbro's thrilling 30 Springer was nice but too big for my scale taste.
The left shoulder connector of my FP Bruticus also broke off but at least it is still able to connect.
With that being said, yeah, I'm pretty much done with FP. Not interested in their stuffs anymore. Don't even bother the Stunticons.

Mostly just for motobot, never got one myself. Their Warden looks great. I may wait for it to hit my PoL before shipping, despite Motormaster's imminent release.
To go in a different direction, I'm always disappointed when a simple head upgrade like Growing Pains shows up and the neck socket is loose. I'm like, "YOU HAD ONE JOB TO DO!" The red alert/sideswipe kit was sorta week as well, shoulder bits didn't peg in, in a way that felt solid and the clips to hold the rocket launchers are very floppy

I had no problems with my Bumblebee or Goldbug kits. I do, however, agree with you wholeheartedly on the Heroic Duo kit. Both the head and shoulder launches are excessively floppy. Granted, this may be because I have the 2nd run, which was molded in particular colors instead of painted. But still.

Well said! 30 bucks for a head and their loose as hell! WTH? Gotta add those maiden japan junkion kits expensive as hell and the head just sits on top of the ball joint no friction at all.

Well just to 'spread the love' as it were, both iGear and KFC really don't seem to care when it comes to choosing final plastics etc. And as for paint? What dross. Fansproject and PE in the case of Motobot are at least 'pushing the envelope' in terms of complexity, the other 2 are just purveyors of tat.

Doing trailer armor for deluxes is just a bad idea. I think it might have made better sense for FP to do a trailer armor for SDCC Alternators Rodimus.

Ironpaw and Rhinohorn are probably the best of those released so far, but Ironpaw's legs are floppy and his guns need a knife/screwdriver/whatever to help with transforming them. They are also stupidly thick in cassette mode, so if you want to use them with MP-13 you will only fit two cassettes in him when they are involved.robotmel wrote:Banjo-Tron wrote:Well just to 'spread the love' as it were, both iGear and KFC really don't seem to care when it comes to choosing final plastics etc. And as for paint? Gravedigging this thread because of some things I'm seeing about Fansproject Protector have me completely flabbergasted. Now, I think that set looks bug-ugly as Roddy and question the decision to not cover Hot Rod's chest engine, but the things I'm seeing are just... Whuh?
First off, saying that he doesn't look like Rodimus when combined. Uh...

I think he's an ugly Rodimus in the armored mode, but he's Rodimus all the same.
And then the big one. People saying that "Most of the trailer is unused".
...
...
WHAT THE SMEG DO YOU CALL THIS THEN?

How is recreating Rodimus Prime's base mode (pictured below) "unused"?

I just... I don't even.
