Not really another company. The Workshop group has stated that they won't be doing the belly anymore. We do CustomsbyZ who's doing the head, blasters, sword, and belly, but via Shapeways. Artek is doing the head and blasters.

And they aren't even daring to show how their belly filler looks with a straight on view of Grimmy in alt mode. All these angled pictures are a Hasbro/Takara thing, if you're selling a belly filler, show the damn belly filler.

Took me a minute because the pics are grainy and lo-res, but it forms the G1 style "wings"

Im not touching this mold until it winds up in Marshalls/TJ Maxx/Ross for 15 bucks.

Aide from the fat, awful tail & obvious belly gap the mold is pretty nice.

I really like the bot mode, but it is a shame that HasTak left those problems.

As for this set, I think it fixes the gap issue in a clever way.
I have 2 of the mold already, and I'm considering the Grimlock/Bruticus pack which would give me 3 of him, and this would be another way to differentiate them.

I like the stomach guard that can transform into the 1985 wings. the 1985 styled dualed guns looks nice. I feel this set needed a new head to be complete.

I liked the newer grimlock head that other company did. I just didn't like the oversized weapons they created.

I already have the Zenith Forge Kit, but I LOVE the wings look on Grimmy:

If they did a Takara colored version, I would pick up this set too. Combined with the MP-styled head and the awesome ZF weapons, this mold is suddenly looking like a home run in my book.

Normally I would agree with this and buy it.

However,I'm a firm believer a 3rd party add-on kit only makes sense it the base toy isn't riddled with extreme problems. The FOC grimlock toy has a terrible sculpt with extreme engineering problems in the robots arms transformation assembly. The gigantic oversized Robot chest throws all the other toy proportions right out of the window.

I think the Henkei 1.0 Grimlock toy was the better sculpted & engineered toy. the only negative was the deluxe scale. had it been voyager it would be better than the FOC version.

I just don't feel comfortable investing anymore money into that FOC Grimlock toy. Having to pay 3rd party money in order to buy Two kits to fix a $20 toy just seems ridiculous. What's next buying a Third,3RD party kit that offers a newer sculpted robot chest & poseable fingers. At this point,these 3rd party companies should just stop & create a brand new sculpt instead of trying to fix one that's beyond repair. Because the FOC Grimlock toy is riddled with so many problems.

I'd rather just sell off my FOC Grimlock toy. Then do a wait & see approach to see what the Voyager & Leader TF4 Grimlock toys have to offer.

I'd rather see these 3rd party companies using there money & resources in a more smarter way. like Downsizing the MP Grimlock toy into a Voyager scale like Igear did with Faith Leader. Or Upsizing 1.0 Grimlock into a Voyager scale toy. Perhaps go the bold route & design there own 3rd party Grimlock toy from scratch.

It does look a little bit like a slab of plastic's just been slapped onto the belly, but it is better than the alternative. I'm continuously unable to make up my mind about FoC Grimlock, and it's really starting to annoy me.
