A "Tribute" to the Nice Guys

Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

That's cool. I'm not hating on you. You're a chick who digs Transformers, how cool is that?

This actually brings up some interesting questions though, especially regarding your 'pay for his meal' comments.

Why is it that woman want equality and to be treated equal, yet they still want us to hold the door open for them, pull the chair out for them, pay for the meals, etc, etc,.

If a woman wants equality then she can pay for dinner and a movie once in a while?

I do hear what you're saying though. Alot of times when my girl and I go out, at the beginning of the evening I'll give her my cash because she likes to pay for things. Sometimes when we're standing at the register ringing up clothes and a Transformer, I do feel a little foolish like she's buying me a toy. But at the same time I just remind myself that she's paying with 'my' money. My girls pretty sensative to it though, if a cashier makes a snide comment like, "buying your man a toy?" She's real quick to go, "No actually, he's buying me clothes and himself a collectible, this is His money."

she's cool like that. Plus she can beat almost every guy I've met at shooting pool, lol. Now THAT'S sexy!

and she's Asian. I couldn't get any luckier actually now that I think about it.

I agree with what you said about paying for the meal if the guy asks the girl out. I'm not talking about that. If I ask a girl out, then yeah I'm gonna pay for everything. But if I'm paying the rent, putting gas in her car, helping with her bills, letting her stay at my apartment, then yeah it's her job to put food in my belly. I don't care how she does it, she can cook, she can order pizza, but if I'm taking care of the other things, she can look after my belly. Besides, most of the time I'm too busy or tired to eat, and when she gets or makes me food, that more then anything shows me that she cares.

The way to a guys heart truly is through his stomach.

as for the 'maybe good looking' comment. I don't know, I don't think so but woman seem to disagree. I think it's just because of the musician/artist thing.

Lol, no we don't. We expect sex all the time. The meal and date and just the means to an end.

I've never once taken a woman out for a meal and expected sex. You can usually tell within the first 5 minutes of meeting a woman if she'd have sex with you. It's a vibe thing I guess. A look, a smile, maybe she touches your arm when she laughs. Lots of little things. I just don't like this talk about how to get sex we've got to buy stuff for them. That just sounds like plain prostitution.

All these woman telling their daughters: "you need a man with a good car, with a good job. You need a man that will buy you things." That's just Mom being a pimp for her little girl. Whatever happened to, "you need a man that will make you happy, that will love you and you alone. That will appreciate what you have to offer the world and won't try to change you into something you're not." THAT'S what woman out to be teaching their daughters. Not, "Make them pay to get the pu**y!"

Well, a mom wants to know her daughters will be cared for. That's all it is. Sure, you want her to be happy, but money is important, and there's no way around that. My sister is dating a guy with money, and while he is also a nice guy, my father is pleased as punch that she found a man that can financially care for her. Like I said, I married for love, NOT money. But if my husband were to die today, my next husband would have to have money. I really don't care if that is wrong. I have a family to look after. However, I am trying to be able to support myself should something happen. My business is a little like an insurance policy.

Women want equality, sure, but it doesn't kill you guys to be chilvarous. By equality we mean respect and equal pay for the same work. That is not too much to ask for. Now, women need to get the, ahem, balls to go to their bosses and ask for a raise, instead of being timid little mouses about it. Also, in a society where the women on tv have to be floozy, dumb bimbos, we can never expect there to be equal respect for women. And that is just sad. I am very young, but I have a professional outlook, and don't eff with me if you're gonna be an immature doofus. That's just how I am. If you treat me with respect, I am an extremely kind woman. But act like a chauvinist pig, and watch the bitch's claws come out. Well, it's more like a dismissive attitude, but still. Women shouldn't accept that type of behavior.

I just stopped caring about dating at some point in my mid-20s. Also, I hate to think that all women are alike and just want money. I can't say it's very superficial, because God knows if I met a rich woman who loved me, I'd probably go with her. As long as, y'know, she's not a senior citizen :o

I had an interesting conversation with a female friend of mine about this. She said the job a man has, the things he owns, how much money he makes, shouldn't matter to a woman if she's in love with him. But then my friend is a bit of an unsual woman. She has a much deeper personality (and is less superficial) than most people I know.

I guess nice guys meet nice girls in churches. That's the best option for them.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a guy that has money. It doesn't mean you have a poopy personality. See, I've lived worrying about money for years now. I moved out at 19 and had two kids within two years and it can be hard. We've slowly scrapped our way to a point where we aren't completely broke five days before payday. And my husband has a full-time government job! I'm just saying, what is so wrong with wanting a man that is established and successful financially? If that is ALL you are looking for, sure, that is superficial. But a lot of great men have money AND a good personality. They are not mutually exclusive! I find a man that is ambitious and has goals to be free of financial worry attractive. God help me if I am wrong for that.

Why should you have to be with a broke ass man to be happy in love? My Grammy is pretty wealthy but I don't spend time with her to get money or for her to buy me things. I enjoy her company and she enjoys mine. The same can be true for men and women.

I'm terrible with relationships. My anger gets the best of me. That's why I have to pay for my companions. I've come to accept it.
