I ordered 2 toys from Big Bad Toy Store. A 1:12 scale Ford GT Roadbot, and a Choro Q series Rodimus Prime. Total shipping was about $13.70. Shipping on JUST Rodimus would have been $7.30, JUST the Roadbot $13.70. Rodimus added no extra ship cost with the Roadbot.
BBTS listed ship weight of 1:12 Ford GT Roadbot : 7.35 pounds
+ BBTS listed ship weight of Choro Q Rodimus : 0.20 pounds
----------------------------------------------------------------
UPS listed package weight : 6.40 pounds
You can see where I have an issue... assuming BBTS charges their shipping by weight, I see more than 1 pound difference between their website listings(on each item page) and the UPS actual weight.
I may curiously poke into my order history and see how other weights compare.

Simple answer for that, they probably don't use an actual shipping scale. Probably just your average weight scale, which can be off by up to two pounds directly off the assembly line. Regardless, shipping cost is normally based around 2.5 pound increments. So everything between 5 and 7.5 pounds will cost the same to ship.

Re: a peculiar math problem...
BBTS is pretty fair about their shipping prices. That's one of the things I like about them.
I'd work out the math for you, but I'm too busy with finding the roots of functions in my homework. I might mess with it on Saturday.
