A question. Regarding LEGO.

I have been interested in a few of the more recent lines that LEGO has put out over the last few years with the Various lisences they acquired, but also with some of their own lines. Specifically Exo-Force, Agents and the new Power Miners line.
Now out of pure being a big kid I have a couple pieces of the Exo-line, as I was interested in how they were handling the articulation required for the suits, and how well some bits work. However I have shyed away from buying large quanties due to the cost and it would eat into the money I budget for TF's.
However the newest line (power miners) has me interested. Due to many of the larger industrial pieces I thought about wether you could use them to recreate Starriors out of LEGO? There should be enough pieces to build a sizeable replica of some of the Wastor class units, especially the large drill to make Crank or Gouge.
Personally I haven't the cash to rush out and buy enough right now to try something like this, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had any similar thoughts or if somebody has already attempted such a project??

Its been a while since I've bought any Legos. My last Lego purchase was the Ultimate Collectors Series X-Wing. I bought it for around 100 bucks when it was out at retail originally.
And I have to say I was very happy with it. Unfortunately it fell of the shelf it was on, and I haven't actually had the time to put it together again.
Anyway, Legos are usually fun. If you find yourself taking them apart to build other things they have endless hours of fun in them.
They are somewhat more expensive than TF's but I feel you can get a bit more out of them.
I however have been less than attracted to the new offerings. I've always been into space themed sets rather than underground or other types of sets.
So the newer stuff is less appealing to me.
However if you are attracted to them, try buying a couple of the smaller sets, you can then decide if you really like them, and then buy the bigger more expensive sets.

Or combine sets. Lego Technic, and alot of other sets do actually make a Neat Robots. I had alot of Lego's when I was a Kid, and actually built a Neat replica of a Devastator out of it.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not.
Also, I have no idea about the original idea since I don't even know what the Starriors are.
Also also. I have the UCS Millennium Falcon just waiting to be built at my brothers house currently. It's insanely hard not just building it there.

We have used Exo-Force with our Mindstorms robots. I am not sure your requirements with articulation, but the mechs are awesome in themselves. We cannibalize them for parts, articulation is five stars for the kits we have used.

You should build it. I had a blast building the X-Wing. Warning: they turn out extremely heavy. So whatever shelf you put it on better be strong.

And I thought I was the only Lego Starwars collector here...
However, the most recent purchase I made was the new Republic LAAT. I've got to admit, I've wanted it since the original that came out 7 years ago. It's also quite a display piece.

The more pertinent question - why are LEGOs so damn expensive? I probably would've caved and bought a bunch of the newer sets by now if they were just a little cheaper.

A multitude of reasons. Brand Name, licensing fees for certain lines, higher quality plastic compared to other brands, etc. Though I agree completely that their price points are a little off. Somehow two different items with similar brick counts can cost up to $30 different from each other. However, that can be argued by the fact that bricks are not uniform and one set might have some large pieces that the other set does not.

Ive heard and read lots of stuff about lego going bankrupt, downsizing, i think the only thing that keeps them going is licenses like star wars etc. i have always wanted one of those big knights castle sets since i was 8. Im now 25 and sets like that are still 200 so **** it

Lego is off to a pretty good start in regards to Construction vehicles. You could practically build Devastator from the movie already:
Left Leg
Left Arm
Right Arm
Head
They just need a more accurate Dump Truck and a Giant Excavator and we have ourselves a WINNER!

Chest/Head: Hook = 7633 Construction site
Right Arm: Bonecrusher = sadly 7685 is too large
Left Arm: Scavenger = 7633 Construction site
