I've heard people report issues with the RX-0's parts with respect to transforming between modes so I think I may leave it in Unicorn mode as I like that look more than the Destroy mode.

My Ver Ka is displayed in Unicorn mode. It's my favorite of the two modes as well. The transformation is not as difficult or troublesome as people say. The only issue with the kit is articulation and it never bothered my as I don't "play" with my models. I'll be skipping the new MG releases of Unicorn unless I catch them on sell and just wait for the inevitable Banshee release.

The new MG Wing is a pass for me as I hated the show and the suits. MG Red Frame is on the way from HLJ. I don't want to look at another Exia so MG TA is out as well.

I really enjoyed MG GN-X and highly recommend it. Not included the led still angers me though.

Considering how impressive the first half of 2010's Gunpla releases are, I'm wondering what Bandai has in store for the second half of the year.

It seems to be getting better with the HG 1 Gundam Kai's release:

Image

I've never been a big fan of the God Gundam design but the HG kit is looking mighty nice:

Image

I'm also very excited about the Real Grade RX-78-2 kit...it seems like Bandai's designers are really pushing the limits of the 1/144 scale line with this new Grade. Implementing design elements from HG, MG, and PG in a 1/144 scale model kit is extremely ambitious.

The HGUC ZZ is very cool. I like the fact it has a Core Fighter. The only other HGUC kit with that is the HGUC RX-78-2 in the G-Armor set.

The Dirfinge looks interesting. Kotobukiya offers very interesting model kits. I have a few of the Super Robot Wars and Armored Core model kits they make. Bandai is still at the top of the snap assembly plastic model industry but Kotobukiya has franchises like Armored Core that have very cool designs. I've ordered the Heavyguard II from their Border Break line of models.

I like the Qan[T} design and I know the sample work photographed uses the 1/100 NG 00 Gundam kit but it looks off on proportions with a bloated body and tiny head.

The HG 1/144 1 Gundam Kai is looking better and better to me. I like the allusions in its design to the Nu Gundam.

Image

The HGFC 1/144 God Gundam model is looking good too. I never felt any desire to buy the MG but this version is piquing my interest.

Image

I'm still feeling a bit up in the air about the HGUC ZZ kit, though the chunkiness of the design appeals to me.

Speaking of the 00 Gundam, a big box came in the mail today. I wonder what it could be... 8)

Edit: After opening it, I can see why the box is so big. The set consists of two standard PG-sized boxes, one for 0 Raiser, and one for 00 Gundam. I also got a 2 way stand base for it. I'll definately start with 00 Gundam first.

Edit 2: Apparently, after a closer look, the 00 Gundam model is full sized box while the 0 Raizer box is smaller by 2 inches in length. There is a third box including the GN drives. And yes folks, batteries are included for them. However, the LED for the head does not have batteries included. It would've been awesome if it had wiring that could allow the batteries in the GN drives to power the head LED(there's probably some mod out there for that.)

Also included ae two manuals, one for the construction and one an instruction manual that contains a bunch of stuff about the mobile suit's history, a geneology chart from 0 Gundam through all the Gn-based mobile suits (Gundam's, Thrones, GN-powered MS's. inteestingly enough there are four blank images with deisgnations, which most likely belong to the movie Gundams as the designs were not revealed when this model was originally released. Also in th abck is a color guide for painting and for stickers and decals.

Edit 3: I started. The Feet are complete and I installed the batteries in the GN drives. Once I pressed the cones, they turned on. You get a nice hum form the spinner that's inside. One thing: I hate decals! I REALLY hate decals. A few of them got messed up when I was putting them on and was forced to remove them. Thankfully I know you can buy spare sheets from various online stores that sell them. I'll probably get what I can on decals and buy a spare to get the ones messed up once the model is complete. One thing I noticed about the skeletal build is that compared to other PG's it's rather simplistic and not filled out (save the torso)like most PG's. On stickers: What a lot of very small stickers. Thankfully I have tweezers handy.

Thanks for the info, Roadbuster.

From Dalong's summary of the box contents, the kit seems to come with only 3 sheets of adhesives: A foil sticker sheet, a marking seal sheet, and a dry transfer decal sheet. I'm kind of disappointed that there aren't any wet transfer decals for the model kit.

Please let us know how the shoulder joints are for the kit when you get to that point in the assembly. I've heard some reports that the model has relatively weak shoulders for the purpose of holding the GN Sword III.

I've also heard/read from a few people that the PG 00 Raiser seems somewhat like a larger and more elaborate MG kit rather than a proper PG kit. However, I think part of that may be due to the design of the 00 Gundam. I mean, generally the Gundam 00 Mobile Suit designs are less Real Robot than say the Universal Century designs, which tend to have more industrial and real world mechanical design elements. If we look at the MG Exia and GN-X model kits, we can see how the MS designs affect the MG model designs with respect to more simplified inner frames. I'd love to see what Bandai's designers could do with a Tieren in the MG line since that's the single MS design in Gundam 00 that looks like a Real Robot mecha design.

Well I just completed the legs, save the stickers/decals. The innner frame for the legs was more involved than I thought. Also, after going though the model parts to find what I needed, I came across two small button batteries needed for the head LED, which is a first for me since my RX-78 and MK2 both lacked them and you can't find them in most stores. Also, i found some padding that attached to the bottom of the feet, which i'e never seen in a Gundam model before.

Calling it a large Master grade... I don't know yet. I'll know once I get far enough in. I'll also give a heads up on the shoulders when I get to them in the next few days.

It's been a few days and despite the fact I was the last one to post, I think I'll make anoher one.

Anyways, i've got the model mostly done. And no, his PG is no oversized MG. No model should be called a MG if you have to assemble the hands right down to the very finger segments and then spend over an hour tring to fit various joint or green orb sections so they go in.

First off, if you get the chance, fill in what lines you wish. Not necessarily all, but it seems if you leave some alone, that are more meant to be indentions in the armor, the model just pops more.

Unlike I originally thought, the model does come with two batteries for the head. Now with some modification, you could cut out the green in the eye stickers to get the light going through there, but it will primarily light up the "gem" on the crest.

As for the arms. The rotations on the Z-axis are snap based. On the X-axis it's the standard rotation. However, the weakness is on the Y-Axis rotation, caused when you fit the model with the GN Sword II. This is fixable with a slight paint app to the effected joint peg. The fitting also causes an issue of weight distribution which can probably be fixed through modding. Nothing too serious, just the model tends to lean to the right slightly due to the extra weight.

The ankles themselves rotate fine on the Y-Axis, but lack the articulation on the X-Axis to rotate up andd own fully like on some other PGs and MG's.

The GN rives themselves run fine. To conserve on battery power, the dirves run for 30 seconds before fadding off automatically.

Hoensty, I could see them eventually releasing an individual PG 00 Gundam set but with the GN Sword II added in and not packed with the 0 Raiser set. Do you need to paint this? Onl if you want to. IMO, it's fine without it as long as you do some detailing.

I'm a mech fan of all flavors. I started with G Gundam, skipped back and watched Gundam Wing, and then started watching alot of the older stuff.

I think out of all the series so far, my sincere favorite is Gundam Seed. I watched all of Gundam 00, and i had to force myself through it because i wanted to see the ending, but it got reeeeeeeeeally boring in parts.

I haven't checked out Unicorn yet, but thats on 'the agenda'.

As far as the SD Gundams go. Yeah, that television show they put on cartoon network blew hard, but the actual model kits of the gundams are really neat and fun to put together. Its kinda like the 'muggs' series. You basically collect them as office space decorations or computer desk decorations. I have over 20 of'm and i love'm. Now, the toys themselves, yeah they're in the stupid department, but grab a model off ebay some time and i think you might see what i'm talking about.

The models in general are all quite a bit of fun to put together, but i think the SD kits actually display alot better than their 1/144th and 1/99th brothers.

Other than that, i always so the model kits as a more high quality toy for my dollar as opposed to the action figure gundams.

On a side note, i'm also an avid Armored Core fan and collector of shoes.

I share vegetacron's fondness for the SD model kits, though I only have two at this time(the first SD RX-78-2 and the SD RX-0). I just love the SD look.

The MG FA-78-1 kit looks great, though I hope the production model has light grey plastic for the arms and legs for accuracy to the concept artwork rather than the standard Gundam white shown in the promo photos.

Seems Gunpla has been fooling around with the MG Wing Gundam model.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4046/4542189901_82270a81f6_o.jpg

It's a mod as you can see various HG Wing Zero parts attached to the model (The fattened wings being the most evident)

Seriously, I hope we see MG Wing Zero (Original) eventually.
