Ok, i called him "Animated Convoy" because every Optimus has a silly japaneese name lik "Fat Convoy" or something...

The thing is, will the new serie drop this supermoding crap? I mean, as far as we know, Optimus does not Supermode, Powerlinx or Power Up in any way, but what do we have?

Yeah, it's just Transforming. No keys, no little robots, no stupid powerlinking, just transforming.

There is potential I guess for him to "team up" with other bots later on in the series, but the writers did state that they wanted to do something very fresh for the series, so it looks like no Supermodes, or linking or Superlinking.

Since the last 3 series have had Prime only being able to compete with Megatron while in Supermode, I wonder how much power discrepancy there will be in Animated.

The creators have said that Decepticons will be terrifyingly powerful in the new series, such that it can take five Autobots to deal with one of them. Hopefully we'll find more original ways of realizing this teamwork in the toys and in the cartoon than supermode or superlinking or whatnot. With a look at the designs, they don't have the blockiness that would lend themselves to that sort of combination. Now, imagine if Prime's trailer turned into a battlestation that had weapons posts for each of the major characters, plus a launching platform for the vehicle modes of the smaller ones. Then we'd have originality, G1 homage, and most importantly play value all in one.

I don't think there will be a Prime supermode, since his trailer, or better to say the back half of the firetruck turns into an axe!

I think the Characters and story sound interesting but the animation is what turns the whole thing off. Ever heard of super robot monkey hyper force go, well meet the Transformers. I'm still gonna watch it but I'm gonna hate myself for it. Also there is suppose to be 4 seasons with 13 episodes.

Autobots

The Autobots this time can only turn into ground vehicles and not anything flying nor military like tanks.

* Optimus Prime: New leader of the Autobots on Earth, transforms into a futuristic fire truck, and wields an axe.[8]
* Bumblebee: The youngest member of the group. Has a retractable battle mask. Transforms into a vehicle similar to his Transformers Classics version.[8]
* Ratchet: Seasoned Autobot medic and veteran of the war against the Decepticons. Transforms into an ambulance.[8]
* Bulkhead: Tough Autobot, similar to the Fantastic Four's Thing. Transforms into a military truck.[8]
* Prowl: His alt-mode is now a motorcycle and he functions as a ninja for the group.[8]
* Jazz: Second in command of the Autobots with an automobile alt-mode.
* Grimlock: Leader and member of the Dinobots subgroup. Transforms into a Tyrannosaurus Rex; wields a sword.
* Slag: Member of the Dinobots. Transforms into a Triceratops.
* Swoop: Member of the Dinobots. Transforms into a Pteranodon.
* Sentinel Prime: Is an Officer in the Autobot ranks[citation needed]
* Ultra Magnus: The Supreme Commander of the Autobots (he apparently doesn't like Optimus)[citation needed]
* Blurr: May be similar to his G1 incarnation. Talks a lot. Will be voiced by John Moschitta, Jr.
* Arcee: Robot mode is similar to the G1 version.
* Wreck-Gar: Weird Al Yankovic will be voicing a dump truck Transformer in the series, most are assuming he will be Wreck-Gar.[citation needed]

Decepticons

* Megatron: The leader of the Decepticons; alternate mode is a gun. It is said he will look completely different by the end of the series.[8]
* Starscream: Much in the spirit of G1 Starscream, wants to usurp Megatron. Transforms into a jet.[8]
* Blitzwing: A Triple Changer (tank, jet, robot) with a new spin — a split personality. Spinning face gimmick on the toy.[8]
* Lugnut: Lugnut has missiles for hands and alt-mode of a jet — he is the "Incredible Hulk" to Bulkhead's "The Thing".[8]
* Blackarachnia: Different origin than in Beast Wars. Starts out as a different character entirely, one of the more complicated Decepticons. Transforms into a black-purple spider.[8]
* Soundwave: His alt-mode is now based on a Scion xB and his minion Laserbeak now transforms into a guitar. Similar color as his G1 version.
* Lockdown: A combination of a 1980s style black Corvette and 1960s Cougar hybrid design with a Supercharger. He is calculating and has been described as being like Boba Fett; has a hook for a right hand.[citation needed]
* Shockwave [9]

Humans

* Isaac Sumdac: Father of Sari, he is a scientist who designs and tests robots at Sumdac Tower.
* Sari Sumdac: Daughter of Isaac Sumdac; befriends the Autobots.
* Nanosec: A human who allies himself with the Decepticons, he uses inline skates and a whip as weapons.
* Captain Fanzone: Head of the police department in Detroit.
* The Angry Archer : A Robin Hood/Green Arrow-themed human villain who uses a bow and arrows to fight against the Autobots. The Angry Archer's appearance is a caricature based on Hasbro's Aaron Archer.[citation needed]
* Prometheus

Man, this is shaping up to be a good series.

PHEW! No supermoding crap! I have hope in this serie. Also, if is trailer is full of gadget like a battle station or roller...i count it as ok.

What's wrong with super modes?

"Convoy"(not optimus) has had a super mode almost from his birth.

It adds more playability to the toys in my opinion,
but only if the super mode isn't a brick.

I hope at least one character in animated has a super mode,
either Magnus or sentinel prime would be preferred.

although HUGE ****ING AXES! are pretty cool also.

Supermodes are fine, given they're not huge bloody plot devices making Optimus a complete ****ing wimp like he has been the last few series'

Da, Ultra Magnus's "supermode" in the cartoon was fine, as was Powermaster Prime's in the Comic. In both cases, they just transformed straight to "supermode" which was fine with me.

It's right, especially since half of it was from me.

Soundwave is gonna be awesome in the series if Every con is superpowerful. The worst supermode Optimus had was cybertron. He had to have it on just to beat an enlarged Thundercraker, which was more like a cannon fooder through-out the series. Also when he fought galvatron He got smacked around without it, but then again it did make him look cooler. So if they do have a Supermode on a bot go with somebody who does need it.
