Anime/Manga General Discussion, Rants & Rambling

Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

White Album - Episode 1

I've been excited to see this, and the first episode was really quite engaging. Another show based on an Eroge, these can either turn out to be really good or really really bad, but the first episode shows a lot of promise.

Touya = Young Toru. :P (Though mostly just because they share a Seiyuu.)

I never played the original game but I get the awful feeling that this will turn out badly. =/ When Touya and Yuki are apart and all that sad music is playing with their words and thoughts displayed across the screen instead of actual speech really makes an impact on me... It really does a good job at emphasizing the growing void between them.

I know Anime makers love to toy with my heart but maybe I'm just being paranoid. Nothing has ever pissed me off as much as Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Ni, and I have a sick feeling in my stomach that tells me this could go the same way. I have to pray I'm just being nervous and that won't happen... because so far this earned my adoration and I really don't want it to lose it.

Come on episode 2!

If I may interject my thoughts on the matter...

The Japanese have had a long standing love of Professional Wrestling that has not been seen in North America since the early 80's. The German Suplex can be seen as a power/strength move that smaller users can use to humiliate/ gain an advantage over a larger target.

Hence it gets used by girls to show they can be tougher than guys, or in the case of something like Patlabour, that seeing Noa/Alphonce can throw Otha/Unit 2, that she possesses finer and/or superior control over her Mecha.

However I see that an answer of 12 is also plausible and acceptable. in a 42 way of seeing things. :-B

The Raw vs Nitro period was big, but it came down to a battle of Cable Channels. Heck for most of the war, I couldn't get the WCW part. It's all a matter of where you were. Also any players beyonds WWF and WCW almost couldn't compete, ECW is a prime example.

That said during the 80's they went thru syndication and WWF had the prime spotlight of Saturday Night Main Event it was available to almost everybody. On an average Saturday depending on the time there WWF, NWA, Stampede, heck even GLOW, and don't forget Hogan even got a cartoon.

Of course the Monday Night Wars were big, and is the single largest factor for the current state of the industry in North America but it only could have happened with the successes made in the 80's. and for prove look at the whole set up of the NWO, percipitated by Rik Flair's defection to WWF years before setting himself up as the true worlds champion.

German suplexes... the popularity of puro. Yeah, I couldn't see the forest for the trees there.

Ah, I beg to differ here. The Monday Night War came down to WCW being stupid, obnoxious, and jumping the zeitgeist shark.

Well, we executed a finishing maneuver called "The Derailer" employed by a former WWE wrestler known as Albert or "A-Train", but more recently a puro superstar going by the name "Giant Bernard"

If it makes you feel better, I can look up the Ultimate Muscle theme song and post it here later.

I knew something was missing, sadly i now know what it was.

Sorry about going off tracks Tekka, but you know how these things can happen.

so a few possible on track questions:
1) Has anybody watched any Toradora!? I've caught small bits while on youtube but not enough to tell if it's worth my time to hunt down a decent sub.
2) Open topic, but is there anything out there (novel, live-action, comic) that you reall wish a Japanese studio would animate?

Well, there's no new Gundam 00 yet, it didn't air this week for whatever reason. It doesn't matter, though. They didn't leave anything hanging in the last episode, so I'm not clawing my eyes out waiting for answers.

I am, however, clawing my eyes out because there's still no new episode!!

It looks like it was a planned hiatus, The episode list on Wiki started showing the gap in airing dates a while ago. Likely for new year specials.

This is probably going to catch me some flak, but are there any subbed/better dubbed versions of Fighting Foodons and Ultimate Muscle out there?

If you're looking for subbed, it's possible to find it anywhere on the internet. If you want dubbed, that's going to be much more difficult.

Toradora is light hearted fun for the most part. I hate Louise~ I mean~ Taiga to death... But Minori makes up for it because she's so brilliantly zany. Ryuji and Ami are also awesome.

I definitely wouldn't go chasing the series to the ends of the earth but it's good to watch if I have nothing else to do for half an hour.

2! Yes. I would like them to animate the rest of the Full Metal Panic novels because I need more Sousuke and Kaname time, I miss them so much my heart bleeds for them.

Actually, yeah. After playing No More Heroes, I really thought it could work out with an anime. Also Chrono Trigger.

...kinda pointless asking, since I dismissed DMC when someone told me it was a "metal comedy". Sort of glad I was tied to a chair and eyeballs duct-taped open for my own good.
