spiritofcat wrote:Have Travelers Tales made anything else for the Wii yet? I agree that Lego Star Wars was great, but it was for previous generation consoles.

Even if the camera control wasn't broken—almost to the point of being unplayable—the control translation from a gamepad to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk would be frustrating and cumbersome. Bionicle Heroes uses a rigid auto-aiming system, where your target is selected from the many enemies and Lego constructions littering the screen. Because you're nearly always invincible, the lethal and nonlethal targets are functionally the same, so the auto-aim isn't much of an issue. However, if you are vulnerable, it can be a chore trying to target the enemy that's shooting at you. You're able to strafe right or left and move forward or backward with the Nunchuk's analog stick, and using this in combination with the Wii Remote to shift around the camera, you're able to finagle out a bead on the target and kill it. A more unwieldy system there never was devised, made worse by the fact that the game lends itself quite obviously and naturally to just using the Wii Remote as a sighting reticle.
Surprisingly enough, the obnoxious controls aren't even the most severe problem here. To pan or tilt the camera, you point an onscreen reticle in the direction you want the camera to move.

I cannot believe a developer like Traveler's Tales, who can make awesome games like Lego Star Wars, could churn out such a piece of crap. Please, please, it you're thinking about buying this game, go rent it first! I wish I had...

I haven't played it, but here are some coments from a Gamespot review:Even if the camera control wasn't broken—almost to the point of being unplayable—the control translation from a gamepad to the Wii Remote and Nunchuk would be frustrating and cumbersome. You should have got the PS2 version if you wanted a last-gen gaming experiance.

Dude, don't diss the Wii. The Wii is awesome. If you owned one, you'd know. Besides, we're talking about THE GAME not THE WII, which pwns the PS3 and 360.

Heh, yeah whatever. If you want a freaking work out when you play games then yeah its great. But if you want actual up to date state of the art gaming and the ability to play online, then the Wii is useless since it is basically just a 6 year old system with a stupid gimmicky controller.
Pwns the PS3 and 360 my ass....And i dont even like the PS3 but i certainly know the Wii doesnt "pwn" ANYTHING this gen, or last.
And to get back on topic, the Wii version sucks even more because of the so called "innovative" controller. Oh the irony.

mmm, who doesn't love the smell of a fan-boi pissing contest in the morning?
Those of us who make enough to own whatever damn system we want, understand that each system out there has a bunch of good games and a bunch of bad games. I'm certainly not going to avoid one because I like another.
At any rate, you're limiting yourself if you don't think that games like Smash Bros Melee aren't going to be off the scale popular and entertaining.
Same thing with whatever Halo release 360 has and whatever jap-o-holic release comes out next for the PS3.

You may be able to "go online" with the Wii, but no games support online functionality at this time.

And none offer the same addictive and deep online experiace that is Xbox Live.
Oh and im not a fanboy BTW, i just know what is good and what isnt. Ive been on Sony's side for the past 10 years or so, but they screwed everything up with the PS3. Since Nintendo has never done anything that appeals to me, and their endless mario sequels and stupid gimmicks are just that, gimmicks which i hate, Microsoft was the only company left this time around and i dont regret making the jump to MS one bit.
They have the best games, the best hardware, the best online experiance, its not hard to see why.

You say there that you're not a fanboy and then go into detail of exactly how much of a fanboy you really are...
On Sony's side for the past 10 years... making the jump to MS...
This talk of sides and hate and loyalty is exactly what defines a fanboy.
