Someone may have said this already, but the movie was written before Metroplex was created as a character. So, basically, he didn't do anything because he didn't exist yet.

So, Autobot City was just a lifeless mechanical city at that time of the movie?

So why are Blaster, Perceptor, Blitzwing, the coneheads and Astrotrain part of the movie?

I thought these guys were part of the original cast?

He made a slight mistake when posting that staement.....The film was being made at about the same time as season 2 was being produced by to different production teams. The Team on the movie didnt get all the animation models for all the season 2 TF's in time to include them into the 86 movie.

If you look at the movie's credits you'll see character names like Inferno and Redalert because they were in the script but the animaters didnt get the animation model for the characters so others were subtituded into the film.

Thats why we see such mistakes as having 2 different Sunstreakers and Hounds in the film.

It depends on how you want to look at it.Its true that he wasnt created as a character yet....[as a matter of fact the movies early script had Autobot city called Fortress Maximus]......but an in story explaination was made in the first 2 episodes of season 3 [witch was set just after the movie].....it was stated that Metroplex was heavly damaged in the Decepticons first attack. His abilaty to transform was destroyed and where left to assume that he was knocked off line.

Now that's confusing. The 86 Movie intended the City to be a lifeless fortress. But the subsequent episodes refer back to Autobot City as Metroplex. Another one of those usual inconsistencies.

But which storyline carries more weight? Which one is the more "official" version?

there both offical. You have to remember that the G1 toon, the 86 movie and the toys themself were all worked on by different production teams.

The movie was being worked on at about the same time that season 2 was being produced. And at the same time takara was working on designs for the 3rd year TF toys.

Marvel/Hasbro had no or very little idea what Takara was working on for its year 3 toyline and proseded to work on the movie and season 2 of the show indepently of each other.

If you look at what Autobot city looked like in the movie you'll see that it looked nothing like Metroplex at all.Remember that the original name for Autobot city in the script was Fortress Maximus.

It wasnt till a few months before the movie was released that they got the information that the year 3 toys would have some city formers. So the term Autobot city was addad to the script for the movie just before the voice overs were done.

When season 3 scripts were being written they desided to make a refrance to why Metroplex was not a partisapent in the fighting.

But where were these giant bots made anyway. How did they travel to Earth? I don't think they'd fit into the Ark or the space bridge.

How Metroplex was created was never explained in the U.S. toon but Tripticon was made from a human city....but it looked more like a oil rige plant.

In the Japanese toon 1 episode was made called Scrample City that explains that both were created and built on earth as secret weapons.

The reason the Japanese got this episode was because they didnt get the 86 movie when we did.I think it was about 3 or 5 years later that they got it.

But they did get season 3 witch was set after the movie.Scrample city was original going to be more then 1 episode and was ment to bridge the gap for the Japanese between season's 2 and 3.

I wished we had got Scramble City. It was interesting and it was a combiners dream because they were heavily involved. Also it introduced some interesting ideas like the combiners could lose and arm and still remain functional as a combiner instead of falling apart. They were also supposed to be able to have combiners switch from being a leg to an arm to power up for different attacks. I've only seen a little bit of Scramble City and it was in Japanese so I didn't understand everything but interesting looking none the less.

Yeah. Not really a mix up. It's like one went to combine with the other other group. Something like that.

That was the Japanese only episode called Scramble City.We never got it in the U.S. and other markets that Hasbro released TF in....so its not a part of our continuity. But I wish it was

I'm suprised that you said you remember it when it was you that asked earlyer if they ever show the city formers origin's because its in the same episode:-?

Here is a link to a pretty good fandub on youtube.......

I only saw a small portion in youtube or somewhere. Haven't seen the whole episode. So i didn't know the mix-and-match scene comes together with the city formers. :) I'm gonna try to find a dvd copy.

It was never released officaly on DVD in english. But I've seen some bootlegs of the fandub on ebay from time to time.

Its also on the 20th Anniversry DVD of the 1986 movie but it has no sound and isint sub-titaled.It has comentery from someone but I can remember who anymore.

The links I posted before are from Youtube so you could watch it if you want.

Ok. Thanks. :)
