Cool shrine. So out of curiosity what's the best Dinobot figure?

The best? It's tough to call because mold wise there's very little to choose from, and each one has strength's and weaknesses. That said...Tyrannacon wrote:Cool shrine. So out of curiosity what's the best Dinobot figure?
My favorite Dinobot is the Telemocha. Followed by the cream colored TM2. I've never had anything bad to say about these two molds, and Telemocha is about as perfect a paint job as you can slap on that mold. And the TM2 has strangely only been released 3 different ways, and to this day I still love my first one more than the other two.

However, slavish accuracy aside, this fella is an easy third.

Thrustor here wrote the book on extensive retools. He is detailed as all hell, basically has three weapons, and... just look at him!

Thrustor looks like nightmare fuel to me actually. Though simultaneously cool and like a hodge-podge of Dinobot and Dinobot II.
I figured the Universe/Henkei versions would be rated higher since it disguises the robot parts somewhat better in Beast Mode more than the original figure.

Henkei/Universe Dinobot is as great as he is disappointing. His arms are too thin and his knees only bend a tragic 2.47 degrees. Not to mention his weapons are bunk. For a figure made long after the show, he should have been much better. He can strike a couple of good poses, but he is unfortunately limitedTyrannacon wrote:I figured the Universe/Henkei versions would be rated higher since it disguises the robot parts somewhat better in Beast Mode more than the original figure.

I had some issues with the accessories being less "show accurate" in a way actually. Dinobot is a great character though. I'd love for there to be a great and otherwise fitting representation of him in plastic form that does both modes justice. I do only have Dinobot II in my collection of figures. Might be the bone white one I believe.

So do tell. Is he worth the kidney you had to sell to get him?
And when do we see him with the rest of the shrine?

He is. He really is. I don't see how it can be done any better. And to address the fragility, I think he'll be fine so long as he's not hamfisted. He looks PERFECT in bot mode, and near perfect in beast mode. The beast mode faults I'm willing to let slide because of his raptor head. It is incredibly expressive, in hand I didn't think I'd be this impressed.Burn wrote:So do tell. Is he worth the kidney you had to sell to get him?
However, the isn't the most impressive MP (engineering-wise). He basically just flips inside out all explody-like, and it's been done. I still find the Inferno and Sunstreaker molds to be more groundbreaking.
Probably be waiting a while. I'm still collecting pieces for it, but the shrine (much like the other 90% of my collection) will be on the sidelines until my whole house plan is done (fix/sell/build).Burn wrote:And when do we see him with the rest of the shrine?
