Legacy of Kain, more specifically the Soul Reaver 1, it's main theme has since been used as the main theme for both following sequels SR 2 and Defiance.

Hmm, I don't really have a best, as different music is good for different situations. But some that I do like :

Modern Warfare 2 - Loose Ends Won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't played MW2, but this fits the scene in which it's played so so well.

Super Robot Wars - So Close Yet So Far Love the games, love this theme

Tales of Vesperia - A Tragic Decision On its own its not too great, but the parts of the game it pops up in it fits perfectly.

Don't know why but I've always found Gilgamesh/The Big bridge's theme from Final Fantasy V to be extremely memorable.

Any Final Fantasy album. Really, you pick. Chances are, no matter which one, it'll have several great, memorable songs. With Final Fantasy, if you're not listening to the music, you're really missing out.
