One of the greatest science fiction films of all time is getting an amazing new release for its 25th Anniversary, it seems. Feast your eyes (designed by good ol' Hannibal Chew) on the Blade Runner Ultimate Collection!

"It will include 5 DVDs, a model Spinner, and an origami unicorn, and it all comes in a Blade Runner briefcase. Here's a description:

Disc 1 - The Final Cut (2007):

* Ridley Scott’s definitive new version of his science-fiction masterpiece includes added & extended scenes, added lines and new and cleaner special effects.

Disc 2 - 3 Complete Film Versions:

* ‘82 U.S. Theatrical version
* ‘82 International Theatrical version
* ‘92 Director’s Cut

Disc 3 - “Dangerous Days: Making Blade Runner” Documentary

* Newly created documentary: Through interviews with the cast and crew, critics and colleagues, this feature-length documentary provides a mainstream-friendly yet meaningful in-depth look at Blade Runner’s literary genesis, its challenging production and controversial legacy. When all is said and done, this will be the definitive documentary on the film.

Disc 4 – Enhanced Content Bonus: (TBC)

* INCEPTION - Featurettes and galleries devoted to Philip K. Dick, the birth of Cyberpunk and adapting the novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

* PRE-PRODUCTION - Featurettes and galleries devoted to script development, conceptual design and abandoned sequences.

* PRODUCTION - Featurettes and galleries devoted to principal photography and locations.

* POST-PRODUCTION - Featurettes and galleries devoted to deleted scenes, music and visual effects.

* RELEASE - Featurettes and galleries devoted to marketing and reaction including Trailers, TV Spots and Promotional Featurettes

* LEGACY - Featurettes and galleries devoted to the film’s resurrection and impact.

Disc 5 - Work Print Version & Enhanced Content:

* Including the rarely seen Work Print version and potentially the 52 min. Channel Four (UK) documentary which was the first serious documentary created for the film.

Additionally, the set will come packaged in a limited “Blade Runner” briefcase holding the five-disc digipack with foil-enhanced and embossed slipcase. The goodies inside will include a lenticular motion image from the original feature, a collectible model spinner, an origami unicorn, a collection of photographs and a letter from Ridley Scott. Holy ****.
The street date is going to be in September. Unfortunately, the retailer is not taking international orders for this thing. However, don’t be too surprised if Region 1 gets the same thing. We’ll keep you posted."

The page that had this information was taken down; I guess it wasn't supposed to be released yet.

I just hope the soundtrack gets a proper release, this time without the stupid added voice samples!

Blade Runner was many things but it's not one of the greatest
science fiction films of all time, hell it's not even a good sci-fi movie...IT'S COMPLETE AND TOTAL CRAP!

It has a great production design and good special effects for it's time, but that's all it has and all it ever will have. Ford looks like he's about to fall asleep throughout it and the other actors seem to get lost in the background.
The story makes absolutely no sence (and don't start with that it's a "surreal non-liner story" crap that is just BS for a piss poor story). I couldn't care for any of the characters because the story was just plain awful.

Simply put Scott can re-cut this film till doomsday and it'll
suck.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because you like Alan Moore. Watchmen is better than Blade Runner for sure.

But believe it or not, there really is more to a movie than a cut and dry "plot". Some of the best movies are the kinds that you can get lost in the moment and not care. Ford looks tired because Deckard is tired. He was the same way in the Fugitive because Kimbal was weary to the bone trying to prove his innocence on the run.

I won't say the acting was the greatest, and I won't say the dialogue was genius. But what I will say is that Blade Runner has it where it counts, and in this case the almighty plot is second fiddle. Even characters, in this case, are not as important as they normally should be. It's atmosphere, it's the moment, it's overall meaning and philosophy.

That's what people like about it. It went over my head the first time too.

I have this terrible DVD form 1999 of the Director's Cut. You know those ass-grade Warner Bros. discs from back in the day? When they pretty much just transferred the VHS master (or Laserdisc if you were lucky) to a DVD? Yeah, that's the one I have. No special features (besides for some text, not even a trailer!) to speak of.

I know what you mean, DJ. If my DVD didn't suck, I would think twice before getting this set, but I want a high-quality version of the film all of the bonuses really make this one must-buy in my book! Plus I really want that model spinner... :P

Yep, that's the one. If I didn't have this, maybe I'd go after the new one, but the movie is fine on mine, so I'm set.

I've watched Blade Runner 3 times and hated more every time I
watched because there is nothing there but just great production design just like that other over-rated piece of
crap 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The film's look is supposed is to make it philosophical?
Not in my book, that's the writer's job, not just the production designers.
IMHO no matter how pretty it looks, it's story that's supposed to make it philsophical not the production designer.

The Matrix trilogy at least tries to be philsophical in the story, and not solely in it's production design, and at least I can understand it and I actually enjoy it unlike Blade Runner.

I'd be all over this set if they offered a dumbed down version with just the DVD's and bonus material.

I am just not interested in the (sure to be) hefty price tag with all of the extra fluff, as nice as it may be.
