That he is and will remain Devastator. More than Likely they will fix it for the DVD. These guys aren't perfect, they can and do miss things. George Lucas missed some errors in the prequels too, which were even bigger blunders than using the wrong name in a subtitle that only appears on the screen for a handful fo seconds. I'm talking actual blunders in spoken dialogue.

Ahh ok.
I doubt they will fix it for the DVD though, but thats just the cynical side of me.

I would assume they were probably busy worrying about more important parts in the fairly short amount of time they had between the first major screening & the wide release, like spoken dialouge, making sure important scenes or snipits of scenes made it in in the proper places. Not to mention they may not have had time to change it at all....cause you know, it takes time to make copies & ship the movie all over the country.lilcarus wrote:Damolisher wrote:The official name is Brawl, the toy name is Brawl, the writer SAID his name is Brawl, HIS NAME IS BRAWL.
the writers dont mean much...they are the same ones that kept updating the gapping holes in the movie to "this is what really happen" we just never mentioned it before and there is nothing on film to support that.
another reason i dont care what the writer says is because they were among the first ones that screened the movie and saw the first cuts and what not...so they should have fixed it then and there....

Just like Han Solo did, & forever will, shoot first.he is and will forever be devastator

im not talking about sceening the movie for test audiences....im talkin about the actual work print screenings, dailys, post editing, when they presented a beta and final product for studio heads and hasbro...there were plenty of times to catch the error many months before they sent the final cut out to be duplicated for film screenings.

Actually, no, there weren't many months. They were still workingon the animation and final cuts up until just a few weeks before the release date. Voice work and subtitling was the last thing done, so no, they wouldn't have months and months to catch it. It would actually be very easy to miss.

Three pages and no mention of the fact the voice actor is creditted as doing the voice for "Brawl"?
So let's see.
Movie credits, game, toy, and writers who are gits -> Brawl
One sub-title -> Devestator
I think it's obvious what he's really meant to be called ...

He can be Brawl anywhere else. You guys can call him Brawl. But what the movie calls him is what I call him.
...or we could just call him 'tank dude'.
It's Brawl. "Devastator" is a mistake admitted by just about anyone involved in the movie. It was one of the editing bits that kept getting missed. People promised other people that it would be fixed and it just kept not happening. The conspiracist in me thinks that someone high up liked the name "Devastator" better than Brawl and wanted to keep it as the name from the original draft. Given the overwhelmingly amount of marketing materials from the toys to print to whatever, I'd say the name is officially Brawl and chalk up "Devastator" as an f*up.

Brawl is not listed anywhere in the credits. I've seen the movie 9 times and looked for it all 9 times. Brawl doesn't even have a line in the movie. In fact, the one line that people credit him with, "Decepticons ... attack!", is Megatron. That line doesn't even make sense coming from Brawl when Megatron has just arrived in the city. It's definitely one of Megatron's lines.

Odd, considering I stayed back specifically at the advanced screening to see what was in the credits and I distinctly remember seeing a VA creditted for Brawl, heck, we even had a conversation about it directly outside the theatre.
Maybe that's what Bay did to fix it by removing Brawl from the credits.

Who did it list as Brawl's voice actor? While Wikipedia is known to have some errors in it, I'll side with Wikipedia on this one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transforme ... ecepticons

I didn't take note. I just remember staying back to see what was in the credits and there was someone credited for Brawl.
The fact that he said nothing may also be a reason for it being removed from the credits. But it was most definitely there at the advanced screening.

I think Brawl said "Megatron" when megs first got into the city.
It was probably a voice actor who did other voices in that movie.

Sadly, that was Megatron announcing himself ... kind of like he did when he unthawed and says "I am Megatron ..."
