Your pictures continue to give me agony over not owning a Baldigus/Ruination. Only con I don't have from the show, and it's nigh impossible to get the UW release for not ridiculous prices

Well, cobbling together an original one shouldn't be too ridiculous. Of course, the UW one does scale better overall.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Your pictures continue to give me agony over not owning a Baldigus/Ruination. For that reason, I personally plan to get a KO CW Bruticus and repaint it as Ruination (also customizing a certain member from Harrier to shuttle, possibly using a model sold on cults3d).

I haven't checked lately on the rubber wheels for Prime and UM but they have withstood the time in my fold.
Man just imagine a Legacy release of JRX/Rail Racer? In the wake of MP Raiden the right thing to do is to release a proper modern train combiner...c'mon

They'd have to be done as Leaders to get the size right (and if we weren't getting an upscale, I'd favor a reissue over trying to recreate them), but it'd be nice.Nemesis Destron wrote:I haven't checked lately on the rubber wheels for Prime and UM but they have withstood the time in my fold.![]()

Also nice would be more pictures of Rail Racer. With RiD toys and with later stuff. I had to do a Google image search to get a good idea of how RR stacks up height-wise.

I'd love to see another go at Rail Racer and Landfill. Those would be fun to see in the updated generations styling

I'd want them to be good goes, though, that actually looked like them and combined like them.

Took Optimus to campus with me today, took some pics during my lunch break (which is a long one, from 10:50 to 2:30).
I've had a silly idea involving Scourge and Sky Byte. Dunno when I'll get around to doing it, though.

Recently been having fun with Ultra Magnus.

First time photographing him in robot mode, and first time he's been in robot mode since 2018.

His articulation's wonky, but if you try you can get some cool poses.

I also formed Omega Prime again.
But I had a mishap in the process. The transformation joint for one of Ultra Magnus' upper arms was being oddly stiff. As I tried wiggling it to get it to limber back up, it instead got stiffer and stiffer until it suddenly stuck; I didn't manage to (or properly think to) stop trying before the part that the shoulder connects to... snapped clean off the big tube that goes around the screwpost.
Turned out the screw had somehow seized to to the inside of the tube such that bending the joint as I was doing drove it deeper and deeper in until it was in so far it completely paralyzed the joint.
Thankfully, I was able to disassemble and repair. But still sucks that it happened.

Just pulled my Train Bots out to storage, and found that Midnight Express has yellowed considerably even though he's been in a box, away from all sunlight. The shoulder panels and noticeable yellower than the painted sections.
Also, I'm concerned about the translucent shoulder ball joints, any body have any issues with those?

Seeing D-Max show off his recent purchase inspired me to break out my set, though my pics aren't as good.
I'm not a fan of that Onslaught mold, but for this set I made an exception because I really like this version.
The original Scourge is 1 of my favorite figures of any line. I also have a customized Omega Prime that has been cobbled together from Prime and Magnus parts.

Very nice Rodimus Prime.
I can't wait to break out my RiD2001 guys once I get my basement done, I have the entire Antagonist cast, and I want to take a picture of them together at last. I still need to get the Autobots from the show outside the combiner teams and W.A.R.S.
As for Ruination, this is a really good figure. I liked Bruticus, but with the Computron extremities, the colors, and the Mo-vor using the shuttle mold, it goes the extra mile. I love this team. (I do have shuttle Blastoff, but I keep the jet mold for Bruticus, and shuttle Blastoff is part of Megascream).

Agreed. I wish we had gotten a Combaticons set the same way.D-Maximal_Primal wrote:Very nice Rodimus Prime.

I used to have Bruticus with both the shuttle and jet versions of Blast off, but I used the shuttle and gave the jet (whom I renamed Warhawk) to Cyclonus to go with PoTP Dreadwind and Blackwing along with Selects Overbite. Then when I acquired UW Baldigus I got rid of the regular Combaticons. Honestly, I'm kind of regretting it now. I don't like Onslaught as a torso, but the rest of the team was pretty good.
As for the original RID figures, once upon a time I had ALL of them, some even the Japanese releases (JRX, Black Convoy and the brothers) but in 2009 I was forced to liquidate a chunk of my collection due to finances, and the RID guys were on the chopping block. As you see I got Scourge back as well as incomplete Prime and Magnus, but I didn't like those 2 too much anyway so I just made a frankenstein version out of the parts I had.
On my list to reacquire are the bullet trains and Sky-Bite. I'm just waiting to see if we will get updates in the next 2 years or if I have to shill out for the originals.

My brother found a Megabolt a while ago, in its original packaging. It was the first time we had seen a sealed RID 2001 figure. He decided today was the day he was going to open it. There is a bit if a sense of satisfaction in being the first to handle a sealed figure, but it's equaled by the fretting over potentially damaging it. We knew the figure has GPS, so we were very careful until we could assess which parts were the most fragile. Luckily, the only gold parts are the shoulder pads, the forearms, and the cannon, so the figure itself should still be safe.
First time out of the packaging! It's an unusual and very specific alt-mode, but it certainly has character. The legs at least imply versatility so one could imagine him crawling around barfing out missiles at things.
Amusingly, the rubber band around the forehead had rotted. Didn't get a chance to photograph it before it crumbled off the figure!
Of course, during the first transformation, this piece on the edge of the cannon that secures the arms in alt-mode broke
It doesn't affect the way the arms tuck away, so we'll live with it.
It is a very good looking figure anyway. I really dig the way the colours fade into each other. The cannon gimmick is really cool and functional (for now), and the missile actually fires incredibly well. The joints were also pretty secure, but I tightened the knee joints so that he wouldn't be at risk of falling over and shattering something.
After this I took some superglue to the hairline fractures and cracks around the ball joint sockets for the shoulder pads to mitigate breakage. I'm sure some will be aghast at my tampering with what was a mint figure, I'm conflicted about it myself, but at least the parts are being preserved in a way that allows the figure to be seen in full. Megabolt is in good hands with my brother. He knows how to take care with his Transformers. It may be played with, but it will also be closely monitored to ensure it remains in good condition.

Great find!
I used to have the Megabolt Megatron version, and I wish I had kept him. I don't know about this figure, but that one was an homage to Beast Machines Megatron IIRC. Also, if you removed the legs in Megabolt mode, he fits in the slot on top of G1 Fort Max as his head.

I got my Den set back up again, and my RiD2001 shelf is once more together. I definitely need to get the Autobots now. I have all the cons represented here.
Also, pretty sure that when I get Towline from Legacy, I will put him with the junkions, not sure on putting him on the RiD2001 shelf. Will probably put Toxitron on this shelf though.

So Towline, who was a part of RiD, is a no-no, while Toxitron, who (as far as I recall) has nothing to do with the series, is included? What am I missing?

He's got a regular Towline right there so I can see why he wouldn't want to add a second inaccurate one. I don't really see Toxitron as an RID character being any more inaccurate than Hasbro calling him a G2 character, at least he's using a mold based on a mold found in both lines.

Toxitron was originally to be a Universe 2003 release. That line can be considered an unofficial sequel to RiD2001 considering the later releases, especially the Armada-style ones, were redecoes of older molds akin to Universe.

I'm aware, but Hasbro has officially said he's a G2 character making his unreleased Universe status no longer relevant.

He's got a regular Towline right there so I can see why he wouldn't want to add a second inaccurate one. I don't really see Toxitron as an RID character being any more inaccurate than Hasbro calling him a G2 character, at least he's using a mold based on a mold found in both lines.

You hit the nail on the head for Tow-line, only the head and colors work, the rest is off. So I plan to put him with the Junkions, especially since Axlegrease is in different colors as well and she will still go with the Junkions.
As for Toxitron, there is that OTFCC story where MegaZarak poisoned Scourge with Tox-en and turned him into Toxitron, therefore I see Toxitron as an alternate Scourge of sorts, and the corrupted nature that leaves him mentally deficient kinda ties him in with Animated Toxitron too.

I have succeeded in getting repaints of 2 of the 3 car brothers! Ratchet and Sideswipe are pretty decent, I particularly love Sideswipe, he is really fun. I just need a repaint of Sideburn (holding out hope for all 3 to get new Legacy-esque toys, hence the repaints) and I will have the 3 OGs. might get the burning justice repaint and call him Hot Rod, so as to have 3 "G1" characters in "RiD" bodies

Leaving the legs attached also lets the mold sit comfortably atop HasLab Unicron's body.Rodimus Prime wrote:Great find!
I used to have the Megabolt Megatron version, and I wish I had kept him. I don't know about this figure, but that one was an homage to Beast Machines Megatron IIRC. Also, if you removed the legs in Megabolt mode, he fits in the slot on top of G1 Fort Max as his head.
