Cartoons today!

Postby Godzilla » Thu Jun 21, 2007 11:47 pm

    Its sad. Cartoons r gonna become exstint! Maybe thats to much, but I means its like our cartoons r becoming dumber now a days! Why?! When we were all growing up we use to have all the good toons on from 1983-2003 there were at least some decent shows u could watch! Now its going down hill! Theres nothing on anymore! Nothing good 4 either gender! Kids these days don't have toons to watch and grow up on like we did! Can someone please explain? I just don't know what to say!

That's if you're still watching Saturday Morning and After School cartoons.

Bleach, Robot Chicken, Bobobo Bobobobo, Naruto (Until Toonami hits the DBZ episodes), Family Guy, King of the Hill, Trinity Blood, so on.

Those are all good shows which aren't aimed at kids. Naruto doesn't cut out Jiraiya's perversion, and Bobobo Bobobobo commonly features barely dressed women.

Did cartoons get dumber or did you just get smarter?

Not to mention, Pixar's next movie will be 2d.

But here is the biggest difference between the cartoons we watched as kids, and the ones today. Us.

We like the cartoons we watched, because we watched them when we were growing up. So no matter how retarded they are, they will still be awesome to us.

So, when we say "why can't shows today be like the ones when we were kids," well they are like the ones we watched when we were kids. They have the morals, stand-alone stories, buddy-buddy characters, a villain, and if you've never seen any of the episodes before, they seem stupid as hell at first.

Not all cartoons have to be for babies. /:)

If cartoons REALLY entertain you as a kid, it would also entertain you as an adult...like TRANSFORMERS! Add that to Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, etc.

We all grow up to be cartoon lovers - and maybe one day make OUR OWN CARTOONS to entertain future generations to come!

I could not disagree more, there are some fantastic cartoons and animated american style movies out there.

In the 80's action style there are Ben 10, The Batman, even the new fantastic four cartoon is pretty good.

In the less action based variety Cartoon network are making some great shows, Billy and Mandy, Ed, Edd and Eddy and of course Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends.

as far as movies are concerned i think almost every one of the above mentioned cartoons has a traditionally animated movie-and lets not forget the Ironman movie released this year, the Avengers last year, Gi Joe-Venom Vs. Valour, etc.

How can anyone say there are no good cartoons, and this is only the american ones which are aimed at kids, if u start looking at anime (cough-howls Moving Castle-cough) or older market cartoons (HELLBOY, oh yeah!) then the list is freakin huge!!!!!!

No offense, but who cares if the shows these kids nowadays are watching are like those we got or not. I don't care. As long as I always have the option of ordering the DVD or watching an episode of any show I want on the internet than why should I care about what is being broadcast. Not trying to sound like an a$$ or anything, but I'll watch what I want to watch and today's kids can watch what they want to watch.

not wanting to sound arrogant or anything, but i think that the cartoons you watch as a kid, help to define who you grow up as! most people who are younger than 17/18 havnt had the benifi of these type of cartoons, and so tend to be more rash and exuberant! if they'd watched what we'd watched they'd be better off!

Being a teen I have grown-up with cartoons like transformers, He-man, Johnny quest… but now the story line sucks… the animation is ok but what I miss is the hand drawn cartoons they have this warmth that only hand drawn can give...It’s sad to think that the next generations mite not get to see it.

I agree with Shadowman, all the Toons that aint aimed at kids (mainly past kids bed times anyway) are kewl. BOBOBO, Naruto, DBZ etc are preatty awsome if they had new episodes coming out recently.........And they need to air more Transformers or even do reruns of old GIJoe shows..........
