Surely you knew it was too good to be true?

I didnt expect it to come out BEFORE the states, it did expect it to come out at the same time though.

And we have had non BBC movies come out over here before you guys. Its rare but it has happened.

Jane Austen movies don't count!

They count as a blessing, though. Period dramas are about the only thing the BBC can do right, and even then they mess up sometimes.

It's only just that we get this on July 4th, I say.

There you are.

I just sat through The Importance of Being Earnest with Firth over the weekend with the wife again. I thought the new Pride and Prejudice was more enjoyable, although I think I liked Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoniette better (different countries of course, same genre). I also saw Notes on a Scandal... Dench again... don't you have any other actresses?

None were quite as engaging as an episode of Two Pints and a Packet of Crisps, but one can't expect miracles.

If we get it later, we get it later, big deal!
But do you really have to be major a-holes?
I date an American girl and I know she prefers it more here than over there.

We're joking. Sheesh.

Someone needs to pill that the G1 Hot Rod out of their butt. :P

We are all joking on this thread at this point because we can, no need to get all up in arms about it, and I've seen times when the brits get all Holier than thou with things. Even in your post where you talk about your gf liking it there more than here, thats kind of a "we are better than you" statement because I'm sure both places have some "f"ed up sh*t happen at times.

no intent to flame you with that, but a joke is funny once, when there is more than one of you posting it numerous times and for no other reason but to be mean, that kinda lives up to the stereotypical American persona that thinks they are better than everyone.
So no offence meant by my comments, but if you really are joking give it a break.

So because you think its getting old we are not allowed to joke about it, and as much "pro-america" joking was being done there is just as much "pro-british" joking being had as well. No one is being mean by any means we are just having fun with said stereotypes. Rememberyou are posting on a forum about toys. Toys=fun so try to remember that and not take anything to offense especially if its not intentionally directed at you.

Likewise there was no intent to flame you when I said take hot rod out of your butt, I just mean lighten up a little.

Yeah but on the downside you have to suffer living in America to to see it just a couple of weeks before other people in the eastern hemisphere, a.k.a the "free world"(:P)...no movie is worth that kind of physical and mental torture! Not even TF's!

I don't see a downside :P

In all fairness the movie was made in our country and we don't even get it first. Damn aussies, we need to put our differences aside and target them :-x

Ahhh, stereotypes...

Yeah that doesnt make much sense that they are getting it first...strange that.

You sir just won a Bafta for that comment! Bravo!

And english actresses you ask? Urm...we have plenty but i cant think of their names right now, since i rarely pay attention to celebrities. (unless their name is Johnny Depp)

But yeah, calm down its all just friendly banter, none of us mean any of it of course, since we'd all be compulsive liars if we did. Theres no truth to the jokes...apart from the actual delay in the release date that is....

Hummm..I wasn't aware of this until now(I don't browse this forum much these days or pay much attention to the movie news), not that it bothers me greatly but it does increase the chance of me sacking off paying £6 to see a movie I know I'm going to feel bad about paying for and downloading it instead.

Ironically in this particular instance illegally downloading this movie seems like the right thing to do. It would certainly sit better with my conscience not to be lining the pockets of Bay and co. and in doing so proving to them that regardless of all the bitching and moaning the fans will go see the movie anyway because they just cant help themselves or allow them to think that by getting my £6 I am condoning/approving their total disregard for the source material. If by some miracle I'm wrong about this movie and after watching my illegally downloaded copy I actually end up liking it, I'll happily eat all my words and go pay full ticket price to see the movie at the cinema. So really I'd like to thank Paramount for giving UK fans like myself the option to try before they buy, IMO its the first good decision they have made about this movie.

Getting the movie later than other places still doesn't justify "illegally downloading" the movie just so you can get your fix and decide if you want to pay for it.

Who's saying it does? I'm just saying in this particular instance I'd feel a hell of a lot less guilty illegally downloading something I know that if I paid to see for the first time I'd probably regret paying for. Illegally downloading media is by definition 'illegal' but I do not believe that doing so necessarily makes you a bad person. I personally feel that it allows people like myself to try before they buy and better inform their decision to financially commit to an artist/film maker/musician etc.. This way I know my money is going to the people I want to see use it to continue their good work and not condoning bad or unimpressive work by giving the artist funds to continue producing such rubbish. If this movie is total garbage I don't want to be responsible in anyway for the guys who made it buying themselves a new sports car or getting the green light on a sequel. THAT would go against my moral code far more than illegally viewing a movie I haven't paid to see yet.

Well you can go ahead and do whatever you feel justifies your moral code but for me personally I'm not dejected enough that I cant rationalize spending 10 dollars on a fun movie.

see, that may not be a problem for me hopefully

oh and that is complete and utter bull[bleep] havin the movie released that late in the uk, since that means an extra month or two so delay on top of that for me as there is only a local cinema, as opposed to a cineworld, vue etc....i think i shall be paying a lot of attention to the internet during the time of the american release
