Nice! I am interested to see a rear view to see how you connected the windshield to the back (the original Energon figure had the windshield slide down over the car hood on the legs).

That's the original Energon Downshift head. I just did a little resculpting and added the "ear" panels from a Cybertron Downshift.

I connected the windshield to the hinge where the back window connects to the body. I then removed the hinge that connects just behind his head so the windshield and back window sections could rotate on his back. I'll try to take a picture tonight.

Here's pictures showing the back and the way I made it work. First I glued the windshield together so it would be one piece. Then I connected the windshield to the hinge where the back window connects to the body. Lastly, I removed the hinge that connects just behind his head so the windshield and back window sections could rotate on his back. This mod and the rotating waist do kill his powerlinking ability, but it was well worth the sacrifice.

Me likes.
I'd like to see Hasbro come up with repaints like this to keep Classics alive; even if they aren't new molds, they could easily cull a slew of G1 characters out of Energon/Superlink alone.

I don't get it.
I really enjoy it, but I don't get it. I've been trying to do this to my own Wheeljack (he's in pieces on my desk right now) and I honestly have no idea how to achieve the waist rotation you mentioned (but didn't go into detail about
).
Please help me, as my Wheeljack looks worse than he did in the '86 movie at this point...

Another basher, Wheel_Jack, ended up making one similar to mine. http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5400&highlight=&sid= He explains in detail how he created the waist here: http://www.tfans.com/talk/index.php?showtopic=69682&hl=wheeljack. It's very close to the way that I had originally done it, so hopefully it will help you.

That was very helpful! Thanks a lot (and sorry for gravedigging this thread, it's just that ol' `Jack is my favourite character).
I did something similar, but I didn't change the feet (the parts that were originally in the back are now in the front). Instead of making a pivot point, I just removed the green tubes from the chest. The white hip parts slide in and can be removed (so my Wheeljack is made of 3 parts - left leg, right leg, upper body) and I just turn them around when transforming.
I attached the canopy and door unit to the rear window slits like Wheel_Jack did (once I paint the insides of the doors silver, they will look like old-school Wheeljack's 'wings'). Using the spoiler, I gave him his shoulder cannon.
All I have to do is paint him and my Classics Wheeljack will be complete!
Massdestruction, thank you very much for the inspiration (and Wheel_Jack for some clarification). I've been wanting to do a project like this since I got my Energon Wheeljack, but between waiting for a Classics Wheeljack and me simply not having the skills (nor balls - I didn't want to ruin my figure) I never attempted again.
Thanks again, fellow Wheeljack fans!
