All joking aside, this isnt false. I wanted to play spririt tracks on the DS (I LOVE 2D zelda on that console). But its not available digitally and the secondary market prices are ludicrous.
I mean I found a way for cheap eventually, but it wasnt the preferred way of doing things for me.
And yes, I did notice we are all talking nintendo, which is also my preferred system. Will buy a Switch eventually. It was pretty amazing when I waited a lon time to play the Wii and had a boatload of amazing quality games to just go through.
For now, I am doing Bravely Default. Not my favourite but not bad either (doesnt beat Fire Emblem). And will then move onto The World Ends With You.
I also realize this is not the gaming thread, so I am sorry Cobo.
Speaking of toys I should go back to, I dont think I transformed MPM Optimus Prime enough, but then again I dont know if I want to. Dont know if thats as bad a criticism as I could give a toy.

I'm suffering from a bit of FOMO with BotW. But, Cary (I think said it) is right. The game isn't going anywhere. It will be the same game when I finally get a Switch. Which I do intend to do. Nintend to do?
Will - You all can talk about whatever you want in here. I just like to host the party!
I've never had a problem with or gotten burned out on gaming. I've never really been a "gamer". I like playing them. I LOVE anything Zelda, but honestly I've never been that good at them. I hate 1st person shooters, and when the XBox revolution started, I cut out. (XBox revolution is what I'm calling the explosion of FPS games)
I would say I too am a Nintendo dude. Mostly due to Zelda, I'm sure. Someone gave me an Xbox when they moved overseas. I played it plenty. There were some games I never got around to and wanted to, but the system fried. The box Xed out. I just like Nintendo content, and since I always want more Zelda, I buy their consoles, and then am limited to what ever content they put out.
But on toys. Will, for you, that is a horrible critique. IF you don't want to transform a thing, it must be a bad transformation.
Burn out is part of the game. If you don't get burnt out once and a while, then you yourself are a robot. I'm not sure that I'm burnt out though. I don't look at my collection with regret, or feel I'm a prisoner to it. I just have to ask myself, where does it end. Hasbro will keep making TFs as long as people keep buying them. At some point though I think I need to not be one of those people anymore.
Besides, not sure why I think this, but vintage collections are cooler than current collections. A collection of 1950's American sports cars is cool. A collection of American sports cars from 2000 on is just a used car dealership.
It's time to let my collection age. Like wine in a barrel.

Spirit Tracks and Phantom Hourglass do not get much praise, but I played the flip out of PH. However I feel the magic did not carry over to ST, I got halfway through and gave up due to boredom.william-james88 wrote:I wanted to play spririt tracks on the DS (I LOVE 2D zelda on that console). But its not available digitally and the secondary market prices are ludicrous.
On the Console debate, I've never really chosen a side because they all have their merits and respective exclusives. But at heart I will always be a Nintendo Fanboy. I skipped the last generation of PS/X's due to gaming apathy, and the only one that has my interest is the Switch. I'm sure I'll always own Nintendo products

That is true. Either old, or limited. Which is why I love e-Hobby stuff and other rarities. I think people these days can be quite disillusioned about their collection and it's desirability. I learned the hard way about comics, literally the ONLY thing people care about are old comics in fantastic condition, and new stuff -IF- it is EXTREMELY limited. Everything else is toilet paper. It's all due to the fact that people are now making things FOR collectors, and because of that, the market is saturated.Cobes wrote:Besides, not sure why I think this, but vintage collections are cooler than current collections. Like, regular line TF's, even MOSC/MISB, won't be worth a whole lot in the future.

I loved every Nintendo console I owned though the gamecube was my absolute favourite, smash melee, metroid prime 1 + 2 the original viewtiful Joe, the resident evil remake...though Nintendo pales to the side which I sold my soul to when I was young...Sega do what nintendont
the Saturn was and still is my true love with great collection of games (including the one I was never able to attain, panzer dragoon saga)

Because, sadly, companies realized that it was more profitable to release online-only games with paid DLC and loot boxes than to make single-player or couch-multiplayer games that you buy and never spend more money on. I do enjoy some online games, but ultimately, single-player games like Mario Odyssey and couch-multiplayer games like Mario Kart or Super Smash Brothers are my absolute favorites.william-james88 wrote:It was so odd too since it was just a year or two after The Last of Us and Bioshock Infinite which had rich stories for a single player experience. Also, if you're looking for DS games to buy, try to track down Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. It's a Mario-themed RPG and one of my absolute favorite games in existence.

Hey, N they are remaking that Mario and luigi game and giving it an extra chapter. It's out next year on the 3DS. Though I am pretty hyped for smash switch. Oh and metroid prime 4...

Boy isn't this the truth. As much as I love GTAV online, and I do, I so despise that the success of shark card micro transactions made Rockstar decide to not make any new story mode content.

As for some of the rest of those games:
1. Most Pokémon games are paired versions (besides Platinum, which is a 3rd version that combines elements of Diamond and Pearl), which are basically the same besides the cover legendary and some other Pokémon. You only need to play one of each. I personally prefer Platinum, SoulSilver, White, and White 2 out of all the Pokémon games you mentioned.
2. Don't play Diamond or Pearl, and go for Platinum instead. All three are more or less the same game, but Platinum is significantly better than both of them (more story, more postgame content,, and a bigger regional Pokedex).
3. Don't play all the Pokémon games in one stretch. Most of them have the same general story (evil team wants legendary pokemon and 10 year old kid stops them), and it gets pretty stale playing one right after another.
4. Mario 64 DS is fun, but takes a long time to complete.

OK. Now I feel out of touch with gaming, DLCs, and Lootboxes, and pay-to-play stuff. It shows how behind the times I am. I like to pop in a cart or disc and play. The new economic atmosphere of gaming feels so grubing and greedy. To me at least.
So.....
ZOOOOOONE SWIIIIIIITCH!
The studio I now work for as a permanent part-time employee just relocated. It actually is fantastic because it is in the business district of the neighborhood I live in. When the weather gets nice, I can walk or bike there. In minutes!
the team, knowing all to well about my collecting habbits, keeps asking what nerd stuff I'm gonna bring in to spruce the joint up. thursday night I went rummaging through the Collect-O-Dungeon with GIANT ROBOTS on my mind. I picked a few choice selections, cleaned them up, and rolled in with them Friday morning.
For my desk, one of my favorite Zords.

For Director Shawntron's desk, Mazinger Z.

To duel with the company MP-01 atop the bookshelf, this great Gundam figure I have.

And for the window sill, Iron Giant holding Lego me, a gift from one of my coworkers.

I joked with the crew that the new space could too easily become the remote Collect-O-Tron Moon Base.
No one seemed to think that was a bad idea.

I'm excited for it. Read the book a few years ago while sitting on the beach and really enjoyed it. I'm however shocked with the amount of blind hate aimed towards the movie on the interwebs. Honestly, I had to look up GaoGaiGar. I've heard the name many times, but couldn't remember exactly who hw was. No wonder. He is not a 70's bot, but from 97'. Is he part of Brave? I honestly thought he was older than that.
But, my personal favorite Giant Machinder of the 70's variety is hands down, Raideen.

I'm so embarrassed to admit, I just don't have time to read anymore. Sounds ridiculous, but it's true. Maybe I should make it a higher priority.

Raideen is a very nice design and my eyes have always been drawn to the very very nice (and very expensive) high end figures that are out there. Yeah gaogaigar is the last of the brave series and my favourite.
