mtma wrote:Well, this week my beloved CW Silverbolt just started showing some signs of cracking on the thinner plastic that connects to the joint which flips out to revela his combiner head. Anyone elese having this problem? Any way to solve it before it breaks off?

Just broke Silverbolt. Right near the hinges of the piece where Superion's head is attached to.
Still holds together for now, but the other side is also seriously showing strain.... Be careful when you transform him!
Not the sharpest pics (hand-holdings manual focus macro lense is not easy) but it's still clear....
right side (broken)
left side (serious stress marks)
It's obvious from the underside too (the part that becomes Silverbolt's lower chest - but not risking another transformation here.
Between this and the floppy head on Prime, I'm not having the best of luck
prjkt wrote:this happened to my first version, RK were nice enough to send me a new torso section of Silverbolt after I sent them the pics - below is a copy/paste of what I've posted here in the past.
I think it's a combination of a few things - plastic being too thin at the point of breaking, the clips that hold that section into his chest being a little too strong (my Cyclonus doesn't have this problem) and the little stubs of plastic that prevent the piece from rotating accidentally being a little too long. I haven't noticed this on my newer Silverbolt and he's been transformed more often, so either I'm being more careful or there was just a bad few batches (could be both?) - hmmm a quick check shows some stress marking, but no where near as much as shown below.prjkt wrote:Well f*ck

The post for the screw that connects the bottom and top halves of his nosecone had snapped in half, so the two halves were no longer holding together. I'm not even sure why it would have split. Maybe when Superion tipped over when I did the galleries for Quickslinger and Brake-Neck? I superglued it together on the inside posts and pegs. It's unfortunate to hear about various Combiner Wars figures breaking already and they've only been out since Christmas.

And before somebodys feathers gets ruffled, let it be known I show the defective part to the customer service lady. If they decide to tape it up and re-sell it, thats on them, not me. I feel no guilt. I once saw toys-r-us put back on the shelf a GDO Hotspot I exchanged with 2 left fists. I showed them the flaw, so f**k it. Its not like they paid for my gas for the 2nd trip.
My Skydive did the same thing just yesterday...Seibertron wrote:Interesting. I had a broken Skydive figure yesterday.
