There are ways to make it slavish to G1 without making it look like a drawing. Other than size, it does not match the MP line aesthetic.

What I mean is that the toy looks almost like a quick sketch on paper. It looks like a giant Jizai toy. There are ways to take the best aspects of cartoon accuracy and give them better proportions. Hasbro always seems to pull it off. These guys didn't. If you consider this to be MP Skyfire, then you might as well call X-Transbots Glider MP Powerglide.

And why do I have to do any such thing? If someone is satisfied with the cartoon accuracy of this, then that's up to them. If you are not, that's fine too.

Personally, I'd like to see a fully painted test shot before commenting on a lack of detail.

My point is this: hasn't it been argued that the MP line is attractive to some who collect it because of the cartoon accuracy? Wouldn't that be a plus for this figure based on that argument? Image

There's Jizai style cartoon accuracy and there's Takara style cartoon accuracy. This figure's aesthetic looks like a 3-D render of the cartoon image. Takara's MP aesthetic takes the cartoon image and gives it human like body proportions. Takara figures don't have that boxy hand drawn look like this figure has. They failed to capture the Takara aesthetic that really brings the cartoon image to life. And being so big makes it stick out like a sore thumb. I'm not sure if you get what Im trying to say, but that's how I feel about it.

I can see what you are trying to say there, and I don't completely disagree. I'm just waiting for some painted samples before I jump to that conclusion. I think, so far, that this holds to the toon look very well.

I do disagree with " Takara's MP aesthetic takes the cartoon image and gives it human like body proportions." I've always felt that the MP line was very close to the cartoon in overall look. The only real difference I see between Kronos and the MP line, at this time, is in the details. And since all we've seen are renders and prototypes/test shots, I'm not ready to make up my mind on this.

(Kinda funny how the roles are reversed on this figure versus Galvatron in that other thread, eh?)

I honestly don't need this Kronos. As I'm happy with the 1.0 Voyager Jetfire. With the leaked info promising a 2014 30th Leader sized Jetfire,I'd rather get this one instead.

Just because it matches the cartoon designs exactly is not enough of a reason to buy the toy. It has to be a good animation design to start with. looking at that skyfire animation design,it looks horrible & hasn't aged well through the decades.

I also think the Kronos toy looks like a first art draft undersculpted boxy test shot toy. it literally looks like a bunch of cardboard milk cartoons cut up & pieced together to make various rectangular shapes.

I agree with you here. I like the Voyager mold and am curious what the leader will be this year. However, the more I've seen this, the more I like it. Price seems to be the biggest tipping point for me at this time.

For some, apparently, it is. And that's perfectly okay. Really, it is.

I was under the impression that 30th Anniversary Jetfire was just a redeco of Leader Class ROTF Jetfire.

That's what I was guessing when I first read the leaked 2014 30th list.

Perhaps,Since Hasbro is on this enlarged simplified 2014 BH toy thing. Perhaps hasbro plans to enlarge the 1.0 Voyager Jetfire toy into a leader scale.

At this point nobody knows what they are. Most are hoping both 30th leader Jetfire & 30th Leader Megatron are new molds inspired by there 2013 IDW TF comics art sketches. It would be kinda nice to get that newer war within body Megatron is currently using in the 2013 Dark Cybertron IDW comic series.

Tsutsukakushi is right. It looks like a bunch of milk cartons attached together. Almost like one of those paper model kits. I think they need to trim the waist a bit and broaden the shoulders. Also make the face look more detail and less like a simple drawing. In other words, make it look just a little more Hasbroish...

Ignore those two, they often come out with idiotic, and frankly rude, comments (which is why I've got them both on my ignore list). You're doing a great job ;)

Im not a designer, Im the consumer. In other words, Im someone you got to impress if you want my cash. This design doesnt impress me. If you are actually are the designer, I think you should revisit some of the proportions. Give it a little bit more of a Takara style look.

I agree with RatedX. Honest comments helps the companies improve on these toys. Should I have lied? is this what you want, everyone to say they like the toy, even though they don't. I would think a 3rd party company creating stuff for the fans would welcome good & bad comments. Bad comments serve a purpose,as they help the company to improve on everything.

Actually I don't need to impress you as long as I like what I did with the design is more than enough for me , you can wait for takara to release their own they eventually will , they might do something according to your expectations .

Remember iam doing this at 0 profit. , so think for a second if I care what someone like you could say , anyways no more replies from me , have a good night mrbig consumer

I think they need to trim the waist a bit and broaden the shoulders. Also make the face look more detail and less like a simple drawing. In other words, make it look just a little more Hasbroish...

I bet you can do a better job with all the talk you do , I want to see what you can come up with , ill wait for your design , you can use milk catons too as per your comment
actually

Im not a designer, Im the consumer. In other words, Im someone you got to impress if you want my cash. This design doesnt impress me. If you are actually are the designer, I think you should revisit some of the proportions. Give it a little bit more of a Takara style look.

Actually I don't need to impress you as long as I like what I did with the design is more than enough for me , you can wait for takara to release their own they eventually will , they might do something according to your expectations .

Remember iam doing this at 0 profit. , so think for a second if I care what someone like you could say , anyways no more replies from me , have a good night mrbig consumer[/quote]
Just in case you do read this, some of us (myself in particular!) do like to hear directly from you designers. Some of us do try to present some helpful feedback that doesn't come off as being arselike. (That's what happens when I try to sound British... Image )

Whatever you are willing to share, I appreciate it and will eagerly look for more. Thanks for trying to fill a niche that many of us have been looking for. I do very much like your designs and wish I could promise to purchase your fine figures. (I like the other one a little more.)

Price is, indeed, a sticking point for me, so if the simpler design and less detail results in a cheaper product, I would be more likely to purchase. If that is any consolation.

Thanks, again!

Man, I really hope that's not the attitude you'd take when responding to criticisms on possible QC issues when the figure's out. Better make sure the product is perfect when it's out ;)

I understand the passion you have for your own project, but remember that everyone here is a potential customer (RatedX included, no matter how he acts), and your posts here is all we have to judge for ourselves whether or not we're making a reasonable purchase. Getting all defensive and pulling the "Can you do better?" card is only going to hurt both sides in the long run; You don't see restaurant owners asking their customers "Can you cook better?" when they got told that their food sucks now, do you? :P
You'll end up losing potential buyers who're vary about buying from a confrontational seller, and the community loses a new 3P who still have room to grow and improve. And we know how much stuffs can improve in a few years time, just look at FansProject.

Wouldn't it be better to take all criticisms, good or bad, into a notebook and put them into consideration on your future projects? Just my two cents :PEACE:

But seriously? 0 Profit? Not even juuuuuuust a little?

the problem is that is tiresome that the very same guy keep posting the very same comments , if you dont like it just dont buy it pperiod , i created kornos with ideas from people from tf2005 forums i made all the changes they wanted incorporate all the ideas they had , and pretty much it was a comunnity project , i was just the pencil for it , on regards quality control i will personally check the 1000 units that will be made yes each one of them , to make sure that assambly is right (thos mestakes are very common ) since i travel to chine a couple times per year , i have to make sure that the abs used was the one i picked first grade abs so the parts wont brake , thinks like that , do you see any other third party , updating asking for ideas ?? no they wont do it because its a headache , i explained on a different forum all the cost even showed them a quote , there is 0 profit in volve on my end, around 700 unites will need to be sold to cover the cost of the molds , and 830 to cover all expenses ebfore shipping that leaves 170 , those 170 units sold will make the creation of extra parts in case that something is missing or ifyou drop it and brake something and ask nicelly for the part you broke.

this will be the last full figure i create since its a pain in the neckj trying to please everyone and i really have no time anymore

This dude is too touchy. He doesn’t seem to handle constructive criticism very well. The worst thing that could happen is nobody bothers to critique his project and it flops. He comes to the boards to get peoples honest opinion. Then he slams the same people for being honest. And then he throws in the “0 profit” card to get sympathy. I’m gonna leave this thread alone. Maybe his product will flop. Maybe it will be a great seller and I will eat my words. Only time will tell. I don’t even collect MP scale, so any input I gave was for the better of the final product no matter how harsh it seems.

Haha saying it looks like milk cartons might have been the touchy part .

Any way like it or not it's a decent looking figure a much better attempt than there other jet fire and more in line with what the fans want out of a g1 jet fire than the classic hasbro figure , if mecha form drop there's i could end up getting this myself .
