THIS STORY IS NOTHING MORE THAN MICHAEL BAY ATTEMPTING TO GET SYMPATHY.
This "shocking story" is just boob bait for morons, so they'll go, "Woah, death threats? I might not be too happy with Bay, but he doesn't desrve to DIE!"
...followed by going out and watching it...
Stop being suckers, people.
And, somewhere out in Hollywood, an arrogant jackass laughs...
Meh...I'm not so sure about that.
We've known what the TFs are going to look like for MONTHS. The worst venting by the fanbase has been done. And with each new trailer and clip that's been popping up, more of the fan base has let up and opted to give the movie a chance. The diehards who have already decided to avoid the movie aren't going to get their minds changed regardless, so a sympathy bid at this stage in the game wouldn't make any sense, IMO.
Plus, I don't really see this as an issue of sympathizing toward Bay - I see it more as evidence of how f***ed up some fans are. While I dispute that 'EVERY' movie ever made has elicited death threats, it's been proven that for almost every fanbase there ARE a few wackadoos out there who have so lost touch with the line between reality and fantasy that they are a danger to themselves, if not to others (ex: the initial Trekkie reaction to the one-two punch in the early Star Trek movies of Spock's death and the Enterprise's destruction). So if Bay says he's gotten death threats over this movie, I'm actually inclined to believe it.
