Decepticon Characterizations?
Orci and Kurtzmann (writers) talked about the different characterizations for the Decepticons. Like Bonecrusher hating everything and Blackout being very loyal to Megatron and the Starscream bickering. What happened? Did they tell us this to just get the fans into the cinema? Did the lie to us? Did Bay just reject the material?
What happened to the cons?

Bonecrusher (hates everything) - he did destroy a lot on that freeway for very little reason other than kicks.
Blackout (loyal) - He says when the Decepticons are grouping "All hail Megatron!"
Starscream and Megatron (bickering) -
when Megatron is released Starscream says: "I'm here to serve you Lord Megatron" words to that effect,
Megatron replies, "Where's the cube?"
Starscream: "The humans have it."
Megatron: "You've failed me once again Starscream!"

I still say that they should just add some subtitles to all the spots where the Decepticons are obviously 'speaking' in cybertronian, but it doesn't say what they're saying. I find myself going 'what did he just say?' a lot when I watch the movie again. I figure that they can't do that since having everything the decepticons say subtitled would raise the rating.
This is dork logic. <3

I'm afraid when people who write scripts, they write it the way they want it.
"Characteristation".. they know, and they know that we know, what the characters are like when they design them.
When you design a character you often have a HUGE load of characterisation and back story but more often than not, they can't put it all into the final script.
So when they told us originally, "they have these characteristics" they are talking about how the character is in back story, the film/animation whatever we are talking about, can easily show very little of it.
I wasn't expecting pages of characterisation myself.
What's important is, they didn't LIE to us, they did do what they said, just not in the amount "hardcore fans" would have wanted.

2.5 hour expensive intro movie.
Gotta love questions that can be answered by yourself.
General public doesn't care about Bonecrushers life story. You aren't the general public.
For such a knowledgeable Transformers fan and *Film class student*, a lot of your questions have pretty obvious answers that you'd be expected to answer yourself..
Characterization happens in actions as well, I'm pretty sure Spanbauer pointed that out to you on the official boards when you brought this sorta stuff up (again)

Far too ambiguous. You can't get a character from a few lines of text unless it's a detailed description, and even then you can only get a feel for the character when in action.
I hate how people keep clinging on to that one Megaron quote. Megatron would have said that to whatever Decepticon reported back to him.
What I REALLY hated though, was how Starscream was made out to be an important character. His Protoform sort of pushed this forward. Why would someone want a Protoform of a Character that's barely a Character in the movie? It's absurd. They may as well have done Protoform Blackout, at least he did more in the movie.

I was originally just stating that the script writers weren't lying to us about the characterisations they put forward at the beginning.
But obviously people here think there should have been half an hour+ devoted to Megatron and Starscream.
I'll tell you, when I went to the cinema for the first time to see this, those lines had the whole cinema laughing. And NOT as if it was stupid but at its accuracy.
Would he have said that to Soundwave, or Shockwave had they been in the film? Probably not. That is a specific Megatron/Starscream exchange.

That's how I took it. It's like the line Megs says in the G1 movie " Welcome Laserbeak. Unlike some of my other warriors, you never fail me." That line ws reserved for Starscream, and him along. Same as the line in the new movie. It it had been directed toward any other charcter other than screamers, it would not have worked.

I see him saying "You've failed me once again Starscream!" as something along the lines of as follows...
"Starscream, I spent who knows how long freezing my tailpipe off and getting bored out of my skull while being poked and prodded by a bunch of ambulatory piles of meat. And IT'S ALL BECAUSE YOU TOOK SO FRAGGING LONG TO FIND ME! Was it really THAT hard to find something as slagging huge as the facility I just got out of?! AND DID IT REALLY NOT OCCUR TO *ANY* OF YOU TO TRY FINDING THE ALLSPARK?!?!?!"

I think that could have worked, but the insult to Starscream may have been lost on the general public.

The movie was disappointing in terms of Characterisation for TRANSFORMERS. The fight scenes were fine, and the dialogue was generally good, but for a movie named "Transformers", you sure got SFA in the way OF Transformers. And what you did get, they were all talking to either Sam, or some other human, or each other in Cybertronian. The Decepticons got piss all Screentime, and you know it.

From what I heard there was alot (and I do mean alot) of deleted scenes that expanded on the transformer's personalities, particularly the Megatron/Starscream one. Here's hoping they're all including when the DVD comes out

No one is arguing that, but the close minded people need to realize this isn't real life and there is a limit on how much money they can spend, so unless these folks have some sort of budget information that we don't know about, they should probably open their eyes a little and maybe realize WHY there are so many humans and WHY we can count the number of transformations each bot did on 1 finger and WHY only a few bots were given a lot of lines.
It's raelly, really, not that complicated. people need to get their heads out of the sand and realize this is not actually happening somewhere, it's not a documentry, it's a story on a screen that costs money.
really simple, a kid should be able to figure this out on his own.

Note to self: Buy extended edition or director's cut.

One would also think that 20 years worth of Transformer Stories would pretty much give you a clue to their chracters.
I also read the prequels.
Sure the 'Cons could have had more screen time. But I am sure happy with what we got.
Great Movie! Thanks Bay. You don't deserve the treatment you are getting from "The True Fans".

Don't get your hopes on a huge amount of deleted Transformers scenes for the dvd. For all you know, most of the deleted scenes may just be more jokes and gags from the humans.
This is Bay after all...

I_AM... MEGATRON! I loved your signature, nice shoot. Megs with this action is very cool! Remind me thinking of him.

My figure Megs is on the way, hope to get him later this week, I do loved him more in metalic silver so I will ask my brother to help re-painting him, he is more professional than me. but I also liked his colour as in the picture ,he gave another feeling to me.
