Did/does anyone ever face serious bullying at school?

Um, I dealt with it by drawing myself into a corner and becoming a social hermit... and hiding under/behind the bleachers. I was bullied because people eventually figured out how to get me to react and I was an easy target.

I got bullied once or twice when I was in first grade. Some kid who got held back took out his aggression on the younger kids, and I got extorted out of a dollar, according to my mom. I don't remember it.
I never had any real bullying beyond that. My school system was huge into in-room scholastic competitions (i.e, Jeopardy), and I'd always get chosen to be on the jock's team. I shouldered the brunt of the workload, I got through school pretty uneventfully, and we were all happy.
And then high school came, I finally hit puberty with a vengeance, and joined the tennis team, cross-country team, academic team, and ROTC. And it was all gravy from there on out.

If so, how did/do you deal with it?
Used to get picked on when I was younger. Then I kicked one of their asses in a rage (see Ralphie from A Christmas Story), that was the end of that nonsense.
If you take it, it is an invitation--if you fight back, they will think twice.
Really, it's true.

I had about the same situation as YouFearGalvatron. I was a really quiet kid and would get given a lot of crap for it. Then one day I just saw red and lost it.
A guy I'd turned down for a date started telling people in class that I was a slut. I stepped onto my desk, stepped across several more desks and dropped down on him like a harpy, trying to tear his throat out with my bare hands.
That, coupled with the gym locker room fireball incident kept people off my back long enough for me to graduate.

I got bullied when I was in 1st grade by some dumb 3rd grader. It was horrendous. Not only was he at school but he rode the same bus and would sometimes walk 3 blocks to my bus stop. My dad just told me to stick up for myself and not let people push me around. Once I bounced his head off a toilet I was never bullied again. And no, I did not become one either.

I used to get picked on constantly at school when I was younger, and not just but the kids, but by their parents and the teachers too.
I was a oddball to say the least when I was young (mind you I still am now really, but I control it better), I was also larger that the other kids, in hight and girth, and I was labelled as slow, lazy, stupid...Well you get the idea
The thing was I was born with Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and Epilepsy bought on by ring chromosome 20 syndrome, but I wasn't diagnosed until 1991 when I was bout 7 (Epilepsy when I was bout 15), but these caused problems and made me, well..different.
Though finding out what was wrong with me didn't help, not much was widely know back then bout Dyslexia and Dyspraxia, and even less was know bout ring chromosome 20 syndrome, so you can imagine the teachers were not sure how to go bout helping me.
So I was never bullied due to my interests, it was just cause I was different, it was the normal type of stuff, word calling, put downs and so on.
I could never cope with stress very well, the only way I knew how was to hurt myself, normally just hitting my head against the wall, or just using my hands.
It took me a long while to figure that I could stand up to these people, I never hit anyone, just ignored them, or scared them away.

Never been bullied my self. Which isn't all that surprising considering I grew very fast and early, so I was like one of the biggest kids around on school. Sure I was sometimes being made of fun of, for being a "nerd" (as in, jolly gee I just happened to be one of the few kids spending time playing computer games = equals nerd) but that was more of a rare tease then anything else.
I had some fights when I was younger (and mostly I just kicked ass, meaning I was top of the food chain and thus not a target for bullying
) but my last real fight was when I was 14 or so.
I used to have a good friend that was Really getting bullied though. It kinda sucked seeing a nice (although not all that intelligent) guy like him suffering from it. I never really understood why he was being picked on. He was incredibly stong (he used to play water polo) and he could probally snap most people in half (he was a hell lot stronger then me and I am certainly not a weakling) but he was just too damn nice to do anything. He wasn't funny looking or anything either.
Worse thing for me was that I couldn't do squat to help him since he was from a completely different school then me.
