Did/does anyone ever face serious bullying at school?

Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

Did/does anyone ever face serious bullying at school?

Postby Leonardo » Mon Apr 30, 2007 6:15 am

I was wondering if anyone was ever bullied or beaten up at school (or out of it) for being a fan of Transformers, Star Wars, Batman, Ghostbusters, etc. Did you have many friends who were interested in the same things?

If so, how did/do you deal with it?

For some reason no one messed with me about my hobbies and I did have a couple of friends that collected but no one messed with them either.

Now when I was in 6th grade one guy constantly messed with me about GiJoe. One day he kept slapping me in the back of the head and one day I guess I had had enough so I picked up a book, walked up to him while he was in his desk and smashed him in the face with the book. His chair flipped backwards and he was unconscious.
I did get suspended but he never messed with me again after that.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

People used to mess around with me in elementary school. but as time progressed I became more intimidating to people. Most likely due to the fact that I started spouting "One fish two fish, red fish BLUE fish" and laughing maniacally. I think people thought I was insane. And it worked too!

EDIT: But in all seriousness. I was interested in the Animorphs book series at the time. but I never really caught S*** for it.
But there was this one kid who made two years of elementary school hell for me! His name was Adam Baldwin. He never really did anything too damaging. but he was like an itch that I just couldn't scratch. He would pretend to be my friend, and then he would say things, mean things. while that wouldn't seem like much nowadays. I wasn't as well equipped to handle them back then! My method for coping was basically to just ignore it for as long as possible.

I was constantly in fights up to the age of about 15, my lip has been burst open more times than i remember-and yeah it was largely due to bullying.

Although i generally got myself into trouble because i was a wierd kid, what i generally consider to be artistic. Still it thought me alot.

After that age until i was about 19 i was bullied by my ex, but that is a totally different (and considerably more complicated) story.

I think generally pople who face any trial are made or broken by it. You gotta shoulder the burden and push on past it, or itll crush you. There arent any easy answers, there are no tricks that will get u out of a bullying situation-but you can learn from it and develop as a person. I am a teacher now and have very strong anti-bullying policies. So thats my way of working it out

In 6th Grade this kid made fun of me constantly for liking professional wrestling.

You know "oh my god, how can you like that ****, it's so fake!"

Of course I knew the storylines and the outcomes were planned but it irritated me to no end.

He kept saying that the moves couldn't actually hurt someone...

So guess what I do?

If you guessed Cobra Clutch then you are correct.

Almost made him pass out.

Then I threw him down these sorta stair things that were in the cafeteria.

It was one of two "fights" I have been in(outside family fights of course)

In 3rd through 6th grade I caught crap for being the fat kid in class, wasn't really fat, just built larger than everyone else. Not for collecting toys or anything like that.

But then that all changed when I snuck up on the kids who made fun of me the most after class, bulldogged them into the ground, then sat on them till they cried. They didn't mess with me after that.

I had been bullied consistently up until high school, mostly because of my grades(I was a 4.0 student living in a really, really bad neighborhood), and my size(late bloomer). All it took was a serious dedication to the Martial Arts, and after I humiliated a kid that was twice my size, everyone left me alone.

This is why I feel that fighting should be legal. People would be alot more polite if there were the chance that the person you're badmouthing will kick your teeth in. There are far too many wussies who hide behind freedom of speech, as well as the law, these days. The prescription: A good, old-fashioned ass-whupping.
I told the fire to go **** itself, and it did.

Logically speaking, Violence only begets violence!

However, when dealing with the hormones running rampant in our youths, logic plays no part.

With that said, no, I was never beat up for my habits of collecting or what not.

However, I had an attitude and I liked to fight. Also, I was/am a Royal D!ck.

I have had my @ss served to me as well as beating the h&ll out of a lot of people.

If you are the victim of bullying, the only thing is to stand your ground. So what, you get a busted lip. Just make sure that you give as much pain as you take. You don't want to ball up on the ground and cry, that just makes you get kicked harder. You have to stand up, put your fist in front of your face and punch straight for the other persons mouth.

Being suspended for fighting is a badge of honor. (can you tell that I don't have kids yet!?)

'Sides if you get suspended for fighting, then the next time someone tries to take you on, they will think twice.

...Also acting really crazy helps!

I've been bullied, but not that badly, mainly cause I'm am..., um was a fast runner. I did get beat up one time, but I was looking a fight that time, if I had simply walked away nothing would probably happen.

I've been bullied, and now I just even freaking care care what people think of me. The last year and half have kinda sucked for me and Mom. But not because of bullying though. In Sept.2005 my Father developed Lung Cancer and had on April 4th just passed away  . That played a part of my feelings towards school. For 8th and currently 9th grade I had to deal with the fact my father had cancer and not what people think of me.

I've never understood the "wrestling is fake" argument, most things on TV are fake, but that doesn't stop people watching them. When I watched wrestling I just thought of it as a drama set in a wrestling federation. :D

I caught crap in early elementary school for being an individual, and not conforming to the click that I thought I had friends in. I now take pride in knowing that out of all the girls from my elementary school, that I'm one of the few who has not had anorexia/bulimia since something like the 3rd grade, had sex since age 12, not had an abortion, and am a person capable of having their own thought, while they do the same thing they've done since elementary school. I can't wait to see how they fizzle in college.

I got bullied for some of my collecting hobbies when I was a kid and after I started ignoring them, they lost interest and moved on. People like that aren't worth anyone's time and I don't have enough time to spend on what I want to do as it is to pay attention to people like that.

I have a friend who used to get beat up a lot. One time I was with him when it happened, and I was too afraid to stop it. A lot of people would say that made me a really bad friend, but honestly, what can you expect an under-weight ten year old to do? What happened to my buddy was more along the humiliating side than harmful, and I really wonder to this day if I should have tried to do something.

He didn't hold it against me though. I seem to recall him being angry with me immediately after, but we were too good of friends for him to not let it go. He got into martial arts after that, I'm pretty sure.

I had a few people who picked on me, but only on a few occasions was it bad. Sixth grade was the last real time for that, as elementary schools from two vastly different neighborhoods came together for Intermediate. A whole new level of physical roughness was introduced to my awareness that year, and only a few times did it actually affect me.

I was never really picked on for my hobbies. No, they were too bust picking on me due to my weight. Some of them were pretty harsh beatings too. One time though, really went too far. My parents always taught me never to hit a woman (and I still haven't to this day.) and one of the girls in our community got to liking the idea of beating on me like the guys do. I called her a lesbian (which back then I guess was big "Oooooh..." kinda comeback) because it pissed her all the way off. Today? People shrug that kind of stupidity off and go about their business...(anywho) She got me off the bus and started beating my ass. My mom pulled her off (and my mother's handicapped) and she slapped my mom so hard, that it threw her off balance.

We called the cops and they said "We've dealt with her before. We get calls the girl constantly. We're not going to come out every time she does something. That's ridiculous." My dad got his badge number, called another barracks and explained, and they sent out the Sheriff and his deputy (who was a woman), and they saw my mom's bruised face, my busted face, and they went over to talk to the girl.

....oh she was stupid. She tried to square off on the deputy, and she was well within her rights to defend herself. My mom and I laughed as she beat her ass down with that nightstick. 13 year old going up against a 32 year old woman. You can imagine who won, and who lost.

Needless to say, she never, I do mean NEVER bothered anyone again. The deputy even tried to subdue her without pain...the girl kept attacking! One thing lead to another. Ah well.

And there was one time, in Gym class that one of the other guys just wouldn't leave me alone, he kept making his buddies laugh by shoving me, and shoving me, and shoving me.

....I snapped.

He swung to push me, I spun around and grabbed his arm, twisted him around, and with all of my weight (he was half my size...) I slammed him...face first into the cement floor.
He didn't pass out, but he did receive a concussion, and I received in school suspension. He never got into any trouble, and we found out later why...the principal used to work at a woman's prison and she believed everyone should work out their differences, even if it came down to violence, but they must be willing to deal with the punishment that comes with it.

...even if it was in self defense. (Parents ended up voting her out of her position. She somehow got Vice Principal, but she now has nowhere near the power she did.)

It takes me a while to snap, and I do mean a while. I scream, rant, rave, and yell. If you can push me hard enough to become physical...you've really jumped on my last nerve until it was raw, and when I finally do snap...well let's just say, I might not always win the fight, but I sure do make sure we get an even beatin'.

people picked on me more because of the whole 'he wears glasses and doesn't get hard ons for sports like we do, he's a target." mentality, a year of throwing them out windows and beating them in the head with golf clubs got them all to back off, another year of me and a couple friends beating bullies up for picking on other kids and we had a realatively bully free school for the remainder of the time until I graduated. never been in a fight since then.

Funny enough, I think that if you get into a fight, that pretty much ends everything there. I've only been in one serious fight in my life, and you know what, I was practically friends with the guy the day after. It was almost a mutual respect kind of thing.

I think a lot of this gun violence in schools would go away if kids would just get into fights and get rid of their anger that way, the way they used to. But people are so PC now that "little Jimmy," must be protected from everything.

One caveat, I do not promote violence. However that is the only thing that some bullies will react to. Even if you are right, you usually end up looking like an ass when you lose your temper.

They tried to bully me for my accent, in the school bus, and in the middle school overall , and it was a guy from same coutry as I was, but he could speak. But I know he was ralling people against me, So during lunch in front of everybody, I picked him up, and then Torture Racked him (Lex Lugers finisher) in Lunchroom. After that, nobody messed with me.I wathed way too much wrestling then, WWF, WCW etc.
