Animated Dinobots? I think they sold well. I've got all 3 of them .

Understood. I kinda see where your coming from too. The dinos kick major ass as individuals and a combined form would just be overkill. Thats why I like the idea, but can easily see why it would be a turn off to others. Adding in the blunt stupidity factor and the 50-50 shot of the autobots being wiped out themselves kinda equales things out a bit though and makes for some potentially cool stories IMO.
Ofcourse, it takes tremendously from the original feel of the dinos. Its a double edged sword I suppose.
If done right I believe I would like it. If done wrong though.... BLAGH!!!

That's why just after ordering them to combine for the first time, you IMMEDIATELY space bridge their dino-butts to Unicron to let Beast tear him up . No way you allow them to merge anywhere near Autobot headquarters (or even on planet Earth/Cybertron for that matter) .

THey could, but I would suspect the backlash of "INCOMPLETE DINOBOTS!!!! " would far surpass the constant questions of "Can we have Dinobots please?"

IMO it's all or nothing with the G1 Dinos

I'd love all 5 Dinobots, but I'll take 4.

Also, what are the sources on this "one missing" business. I'm calling Beryllium Baloney on that. As far as I knew, all five were either missing or not fit for reproductions.

The Animated Dinobots rocked. Wasn't really a fan of the Energon versions. I sold off mine.

WHOA, WHOA, WHOA!! What are the TFC Dino combiners? Are they new? I thought TFC only repainted previously released figs and then sold them at a hefty increase. So where did those dinos come from? What line are they from and how large are they?

You're confusing two different groups.

TFC Toys is a 3rd Party company.

TFCC(2 C's) is the Collector's Club which does repaints.

aaaaaah! Even better! That means we will get original non repaint dinos. It truley stinks that We will have to shell out so much cash for figures that hasbro should be making. I mean the dinos are staple characters! making them into generations figures should be a no brainer youd think.

Your point it taken. While the dinos have had scarce positions since G1 their popularity remains high and cannot be denied. I believe there was even a pole asking who youd like to see above all in the next film (ROTF) and grimlock and the dinos won hands down.
Not that that is my primary argument, just another reason not to doubt the dinos popularity.
Being that generations/classics is a line dedicated to classics It just seems the dinos would have been done as Im sure their popularity with fans of classics cannot be disputed. I know Id have much rather the other four dinos over say the "new" scrap heap, skull grin, black shadow, cybertronian bumble bee, cybertronian cliff jumper or even darkmount and thunder wing. Id wager most would agree
Id also wager that in most cases a child who has no idea who the dinos are would snag a robotic transforming dinosaur off the shelf over any of the aformentioned bots.
Point, They could have put out the dinos already and probably sold more figures as a result. I know most of my stores were bogged down with cliff jumpers, skull grins and thunderwings until a week ago. They stores finally had to pack em up and send em back. I just cant see a modernized version of the dino bots warming the shelfs.
Having said all of that, Im happy that I will be able to own the dinos even if they are overpriced third party figures.

thing is, of the 4 molds you mention, Hasbro has been able to use each for 2 characters within quick succession, but only a change of head and a new paint job on them.

robot dinosaurs might well be cooler than yet another tank, but the Dinobots have very distinct forms, and not just their alt modes. There's also the fact that primarily they all have the same colour scheme. I think they'd probably be spread out through quite a few waves is Hasbro were to make them all, to avoid people being confused.

"mommy, I want that one!"
"the grey and gold dinosaur? you've already got that one!"

I'm sure we could all think of characters who we'd be okay with new Dinobot molds being repainted as, but I can see many reasons Hasbro doesn't do them.

with luck, the upcoming 3rd party ones will at least be decent, and not too over-priced.
