DOTM Euphoria Gone?
Ok- so I know there are a lot of people who watched DOTM and hated it immediately. I'm a bit different- I watched it and loved it, I mean absolutely LOVED it. However since I saw it last my feelings have become more mixed. I saw it once more a couple weeks ago and it was not nearly as enjoyable as seeing it the first time.
I don't know what it is- maybe the cracks showing a bit more the second time or realizing how bad some of the characterizations were- I'm just frustrated right now. A similar experience happened when I saw ROTF for the first time. I loved it and was in complete awe at seeing Optimus combine with Jetfire, the forest battle, the whole Egypt sequence. But the more it sank in the more I realized how much I really didn't care for it.
DOTM is a great film but I don't know- the more I think about Starscream's death, Shockwave's lack of ANYTHING, Soundwave's brief appearances, Wheeljack's brief appearances, the more I don't care for it. I think overall I've been pretty disappointed with the movies even though I understand that for getting something that focuses heavily on the bots would require a TON of money.
What do you all think? Were any of you in a DOTM euphoria after you saw it for the first time? Are any of you kind of feeling a little disappointed by it now?

For me, it was even better the second time!

Same here. And I plan to watch it for the third time in the theaters soon.

Mediocre the first time, worse the second, won't see it again.

I found that the first viewing was the most enjoyable for me. The second time I was a bit more critical of certain things, but I still did enjoy it, just not as much. However I know when it comes out on DVD I'll buy it, and watch it within a day or two...

Just saw it last night for the 5th time. I saw RotF in theaters 4 times. In theaters, the movies seem different. On DVD RotF sucks and reveals all the problems with it. In theaters, I was able to get into it despite itself, and enjoy it. Hopefully DotM will have a different effect on me on DVD. I pla on seeing it 1 more time before it leaves theaters at the end of the month, so the euphoria is still there. It's the best of the trilogy, IMO.

I've seen it six times already, and I have to be honest: the allure is starting to fade.

I read the official novel before seeing DOTM in theaters. In my opinion, the book/novel went more in depth with detail compared to the movie. I feel as if the book had more time to explain things such as Ironhide's death, Sentinel's betrayal, the twins, etc. When I saw the movie I felt as if scenes were cut out from the script and it was rushed. Saw DOTM three times in theaters once in IMAX3D and twice in RealD3D. IMAX's HD sound quality was better, but I thought the RealD's picture was better quality.

I too bought the book, hoping to find a more in-depth look into some of the movies scenes. I haven't finished it yet, but comparing the pace of the movie to that of the book - everything seems a bit rushed on the screen. Now, obviously that's because they are limited in how long the film can be in a theatrical release, so I can't really complain there. Also, a book will always be a more intimate experience because it allows you to read both the character's actions and their thoughts. What I would really like to see from DOTM eventually would be a director's cut, something along the lines of the extended LOTR movies, which would include all the stuff that was cut out for time restriction but integral to the story/trilogy (such as the Twin's deaths).

I agree with you 100%. They should add a Blu-ray director's cut, for example, add some scenes that were in the book to the movie. Such as the Twins sacrifice for Bumblebee and each other. More mourning for Ironhide's death, and the meeting between SP and Megatron which was completely cut out of the movie. That is just my opinion. I said this yesterday also, they should add in more scenes of Dino slicing and dicing decepticons in memory of Francesco Quinn and put a dedication to him in the credits.

I thought Bay said he doesn't do that, and that whatever version makes it to the theaters IS his cut. After raking in so much cash in his career, studios usually don't mess with his movies, just give him the green light and let him put whatever he wants out there.
As for the euphoria, I am feeling it starting to wane. DotM is still better than RotF by a long shot, but now to me it's probably not better than the first film, as I had thought before. Most likely due to the mishandling of major characters. (Prime, Megatron and Shockwave)

Loved it even more the second time, but they seem to have completely forgotten about Jolt's existence.

he died in comics
but thats unsatisfactory for movie going audience
but people only seem to complain about twins absence
and not like jolt did anything in ROTF, did he even have lines

Though he didn't have any lines, his few seconds of action changed the whole outcome. Without him, Prime couldn't have "suited up" into Jetfire's corpse and kick the Fallen's ass all over the ruins. I know Ratchet was also involved, and Jolt might not have been totally necessary for the procedure, but without him it would have taken Ratchet a lot longer to dress Prime up, definitely too long for the Fallen to not accomplish destroying the Sun.

I loved all movies the first time I saw them, and i went a second and third time, still enjoyed it. and yes i was upset when shockwave had not much scenery and his death, but when i watched rotf and tf on dvd again it wasn't that exciting to seeing it in the cinema. But i will still like the movies. just not that thrilling as the first 2 or 3 times

So good!

S4TE has a forum post about whether they will re-release DOTM in theaters because it didn't get much 3D screen time. The reason behind that was that Cars 2 and Harry Potter were favored by the movie theaters more then DOTM. Do you think the DOTM euphoria will get rebooted if they re release it in 3D?

Depends how soon they do it. I believe more people will see it again the longer they wait with it. And Cars 2 was a letdown, so I heard.
