I have found some very very disturbing news:

dragonball Movie

[GOKU] 18 years old, Goku is considered uncool and unpopular at school, but he is in fact an extremely talented martial arts fighter who gets rigorous training from his grandfather, Gohan. After the death of his grandfather by the evil Lord Piccolo, Goku finds his destiny in his grandfather's dying request that he find Master Roshi and gather all seven Dragon Balls (of which he has one) in order to prevent Piccolo from succeeding in his desire to use the dragonballs to take over the world. Trained by Master Roshi, aided by Bulma and Yamcha, friends he meets along the way, Goku proves himself a formidable, almost undefeatable fighter. On many dangerous adventures to find the remaining Dragon Balls and thus save the world, Goku conquers physical and emotional challenges, ultimately saving the world but clearly impelled to spend his life searching for the Dragon Balls with his trusty companions...LEAD

Changes I am okay with, but it seems like they are really trying to squeeze alot of stuff into one movie, when they would be much better of starting from the beginning and having a younger Goku, Bulma, Yamcha with a little help from Roshi taking on Pilaf first.

This really sounds to me to be much more like this most heinous of movies.

I'm a big Dragon Ball Z [and the others] fan,but to be honest,when I heard they wanted to do a live action movie I was conserened that they would try to tell the whole story and fail.I think this is a good way to go.It takes one of the more popular story arc's [Piccolo] from the DB show and intergarets it to the origin story while adding a new twist.The only thing I really dont like is the Goku being 18 years old and in school.I know they didnt want to go with the 6 year old look but they should have at least gone as young as 12 and kept him living in the wild.

I think the fact that Viz has done everything in their power to make Goku as different as possible from his origins has something to do with this.

Goku is an un-educated hick who speaks in slang and informal language. Viz made him seem quite cultured, and "normal" something the movie has expanded on.

I'd prefer the Piccolo arc to be done with other proper Dragonball characters, like Krillin and Tien. Pilaf or even the Red Ribbon Army would have been better first movie bad guys.

Having Piccolo kill Gohan changes a fundamental aspect of Dragonball, as would having Goku without a tail at all.

Is it any more of a fundamental change then making the Joker the killer of Batmans parents back in the 89 film....or Two face killing Robins Parents in BM forever.......or Wolvering being 6'2" or Spiderman having organic web shooters and lets not forget the whole MJ thing.When you take a story out of its established mediem and try to bring it to an other ,your going to have to change a few things.
While I agree that I would have loved to see some of those other characters they would not have translated to the big screan very well.If there planing to do at least 3 movies they should go with this plan......

3rd. movie: Buu

To try to cram all the characters you want to see [about 20 years worth]in a movie series would be imposible and would surly condem the movie to failer.

Magic Begins is laughably awsome. Didn't know there was a "new special effects version", but if it wipes away all the bad special effects, then the movie has lost its charm. And the original English languge dub has some familiar voices for fans of Star TV Transformers and 90's Godzilla movies.

As for this movie, eh, I seriously doubt it will ever see the light of day. DBZ live action has been in "development" for what, eight years? But if this does come out, I'll give it a shot, for nastalgia's sake.

To be honest if this Dragonball Movie is in fact going to replace the DBZ movie that has been in and out of development since 2000, then fair enough to condense all of Dragonball and screw it around. I kinda took this to be a stand-alone movie with the Z film/s to come afterwards, but if this is to be the beginning of a DB/Z trilogy then so be it.
I vote for the battles against Raditz, Nappa and Vegeta to appear in movie #2, even if they have to cut out Nappa, and..
Frieza Saga with Ginyu Force over Zarbon and Dodoria as the final Movie, and end DBZ where Toriyama originally wanted to.

What I would like to see is with the First movie ,besides the Picollo story, we see the beginings of the formation of the red ribin army.
With the 2nd movie the main bad guy is Vegeta and crew.But we also see the RR Army launch an attack on vegetas crew but lose.
3rd movie should feature the RR Army's ultimate creations.....the Androids and maybe cell.......with this treat Vegeta joins forces with Goku and friends.

I wrote my own DB/Z trilogy screan play a few years back.
