Yeah, SEELE got lucky that things turn out with such a similar outcome to their own scenario, until Shinji grew a pair halfway through and threw a wrench in the works...

I am beyond curious to see Gendo's scenario play out fully. Besides bringing Yui back, I don't think they went into any other details. Like the state of life on earth, and the exacts on how it would finish. Instrumentality style? Some form of annihilation? I'd like to see this addressed in the new movie series.
