Family Guy Post-Cancel

I've been watching Family Guy episodes made after the cancel, and I don't see what the big deal was. The show is still funnier than almost any crap on TV nowadays. People complain that the newer episodes aren't good, but it's still got what it takes.

Death: "I never like to be too far from Mike Wallace."

That quote alone is funnier than anything Friends did.

No clue. That's just the talk I hear. Family Guy is still funny, but some people don't think so.

I remember when it was on its original run on FOX and think why the hell did they cancel it? I feel it was better than the Simpsons. I'm sure its just as good as it was then.

I don't watch too much tv anymore though. Actually, the only show I try to catch is American Body Shop.

No. Family Guy jumped the shark and kept running. Seasons 2 and 3 were probably their best.

The Untold Story Movie was boring as could be and only a few, if any funny moments.

The episode you mentioned (the Mike Wallace line) is one of the funniest new episodes they've had in a while. But that's about it.

I will admit, Seth MacFarlane (as Brian, which is his real voice) can sing, sing like there's no tomorrow. He did a really nice job on the Rick Astley* cover.

And Peter was great with "Axel F." (theme from Beverly Hills Cop) "He he he he he he and another he he he he!"

*= I had to Wikipedia that one.

Family Guy is funny, but the only cartoon that has been consistently funny over the years is South Park. I catch new eps every now and then and it's still funny after ten years. I've given up on the Simpsons. Family Guy is just too random to always be funny. But it's still good. The "Crippletron" makes me laugh so hard, though I feel guilty about it.

I don't know, there have been a few good episodes in there, but it's lost it's touch. Still funny, but not nearly as much as it used to be. Still a lot better than a lot of other crap out there.

I don't know. Robot Chicken is only 15 minutes per episode and it's been funnier in 10 of those 15, than FG has been in 30. (At least lately)

It's almost like they said "Ah. Yeah, we're guaranteed. We'll just phone this one in. But we'll have to do some actual work week after next." on most of what I've seen.

When even Mayor Adam West isn't hitting the funnay, you know something's rotten in Denmark, and it's not just the Hasbro distribution.

I still say Family Guy is one of the few longish running shows to not lose its charm.

South Park is just random political nonsense.

That or they are trying to make some kind of stand on something.

Its just not funny.

I'll take Family Guy and Robot Chicken over the Simpsons and South Park any day of the week

Yes. FG and RC will always be monumentally better than The Simpsons and SP. I grew tired of The Simpsons about a decade ago. I grew tired of SP when it became preachy about everything, insultingly.

FG is getting stupid, but there's enough non sequitor laughs to keep it going some. Although I was one sad panda when even the Chicken fight started to bore me. They just carry the jokes a little too far past the funny. I mean you can literally gauge the funny with these clips. (Once you've gotten past the point of "hehe" and a chuckle here and there...it's gone past laughs and into "Wow. 10:00 PM...still goin' huh?")

RC has a few hit or miss moments, but generally, it's so balls to wall insane and funny that you can overlook the crap segments.

Do you guys like Drawn Together? It's pretty offensive but it's gotten a lot of laughs out of my husband and me.

Pretty offensive? They set out to offend every bloody week!

I had to laugh at the episode where Captain Hero discovers he has a retarded son with his own sister and he declares that the only thing for his son to become is a air-conditioner mechanic.

Now we have an air-con guy as a client, and he's a complete and utter git and I immediately thought of him and how true it was.

A few days later we were trying to send him a fax. Fax/phone thing so he answers it first, fair enough. Workmate tells him we're sending a fax and to hang up and we'll call again.

So he hangs up, we call again ... he answers.

Three answers it took before he left the fax alone to kick in.

Anyhoo .... South Park, Family Guy, Simpsons, Drawn Together, I watch and enjoy all, as well as King of the Hill.

I have never laughed so hard in my life as I did at the "Back to the Future" spoof episode of Family Guy. The Axel F segment alone made me do a happy ****.

The Family Guy Star Wars send up entitled "Blue Harvest" is scheduled to air on September 23, 2007.

One of the main reasons that FG has lost it's appeal for me is that everybody is watching it now. Then so many people try to quote it. And they do so... Badly.

I still enjoy watching the show. I just got overloaded on it. I had to take a break.

You'd love me mate then.

He has a different FG quote for every occasion.

I love it so much, but I have to wait till I go round to his house to see it.

It'll be a while till I can quote it like he can though.

I have the star trek joke wedged permenantly in my mind now, along with the Axel F bit.

Ah yes, King of the Hill. I watch it every time it's new. The thing about it is it's not laugh out loud funny every week, but there's a certain consistency to it that I find enjoyable, a nice addition to Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad, makes for a complete evening(yes, I enjoy animation domination). It's coming back too surprisingly, I have no idea how long it'll last either.

The episode you mentioned (the Mike Wallace line) is one of the funniest new episodes they've had in a while. But that's about it.

Three letters: PTV. I was watching that one last week again, classic in every sense of the word. So many jokes and references, just one of the best episodes in my opinion. And the song is so true, it's a great episode. That's really saying something, cause most Family Guy's are more about random jokes than real plots sometimes.

The Star Wars spoof is gonna be great. I only saw like 30 seconds of the promo, then closed the window, cause I don't want to spoil it.

Yeah I love Family Guy, unfortunately Fox are being complete asses over UK and Ireland broadcast rights where BBC can't show the season until after it has been released on dvd so they can put a little sticker on the cover with not seen on tv on it. They've also screwed up the volume numbering as it was released in season sets here and have continued full season numbering despite the new volumes being half season sets.
