Fender Bender vs. Huffer (part 2)

For those of you who remember before the board wipe (about 2 months ago), I had an accident that involved my truck I drive at work (which looks like G1 Huffer, so that's what I call it).

Anyway, as many of you may remember, I got tripped up in the back and ended up falling off. At that time, my ankel swelled up tremendously.

Unfortunately, I did not get to choose my doctor at the time either. The way it was told to me by my boss is that our company has a contract with a clinic called Concentra and that any injuries that happen at work are to be taken care of by them.

So I go to Concentra and they take X-rays, to make sure everything is alright.

The doctor told me it was just a sprain and should be good in 6 to 8 weeks. At that time, I felt I was misdiagnosed and that something worse was going on inside my ankel.

2 to 3 weeks after the first visit, I continued to complain that I felt like I was not getting any better. To ease my concerns, the doctor took a second X-ray.

Still, no conclusive evidence of anything according to the doctor. Mind you, he never showed me either X-rays to this point in time, I just took his word for it.

At week six, I continued to tell him that something else was wrong. He continued to maintain his original diagnosis of a sprain. But just to make sure, he referred me to a specialist, The Bone and Joint Clinic.

I should also note that Fedex has paid all fees in regards to Concentra, and because of the referal, they have paid the Bone and Joint Clinic as well.

So I go to Bone and Joint and they want to see the X-rays that Concentra took to avoid taking more. They asked me for them, I did not have any copies.

So the doctor examines my ankel. She was worried that something was definately wrong. So without the X-rays, she scheduled me to do an MRI (she was going to have me do one even with the X-rays).

So I did the MRI last week Monday. That was a fun hour and a half trying to lay as motionless as possible.

But of course, because of scheduling, and the time to develop the picture, I would have to wait a week to find the results out.

So I went in to Bone and Joint yesterday (Monday). The doctor brought up the MRI and it was as I feared, 2 fractures through my talus.

But it gets even better. Bone and Joint finally got the X-rays from Concentra, and the doctor hung the X-ray up on the light screen.

YOU COULD SEE THE DAMN FRACTURE ON THE X-RAY!!!!

Like I said, never once did the doctor at Concentra actually show me the X-ray, so this really pissed me off that it could be seen.

It would have been different had the X-ray not shown the fracture, but it did.

I am seriously contemplating a Malepractice lawsuit against Concentra. :-x

It just felt like I was in a really low spot today, but thankfully I got this when I got home tonight.

I plan on consulting a lawyer tomorrow, hopefully I can get something out of this.

On the downside to me having a fractured ankle, if it does not heal in 3 weeks, my new doctor wants to take a chunk from my knee and go in and surgically fix it. :(

Here's hoping a heal on my own.

I'm not any foot and ankle expert but i think the malpractice would likely stick. As for healing your bones, i was in a cast for 2-3 months on a double fracture at the wrist when i was 13. How long are they giving your ankle over all? Surgery may be an unnessesary option.

:? Why wouldn't they show you the X-rays? At the least it could have covered there legal end. Did you ask to see the x-rays prior? You should still have a case either way.

I know there's valid medical reasons for doing it but I was always thought it was weird that to fix one bit of someone they'd take another chunk out of them!

Anyhoo, hope you get some compo. Especially since you drive a truck having a busted ankle probably ain't helping your ability to work

I believe my present doctor did the math and despite my previous doctor being an idiot, according to her, my ankle should be healed in three weeks (for a total 0f 12 weeks since the accident I believe).

And no, I didn't ask to see the X-rays at the time. I figured he was telling the truth and took his word for it. :?

You should sue for malpractise.

That doctor doesn't get paid to basically sit there and lie through his teeth. He gets paid to care for people.

He doesn't deserve to be a doctor. Sue for malpractise, and pushed for him to be fired.

If that's the treatment he gave you, what sort of treatment is he giving other people? That has the potential to be fatal.

Let me see if I got this right...

A long time ago you broke your ankle on the job, the quack your boss sent you too said it was just a sprain.
Months pass and nothing heals, But some dimwit smashes your parked car in front of your house.
You get to see a new quack and he says, "Hey it is broken, but you need surgery because its too late for nature to fix it. We'll take the parts we need from your knee."

Where do you live and where do you work, because I think we just found hell on earth and I need to stay away.

In all seriousness though, I wish you the best on your upcoming lawsuits and hope the pain can be willed away without too many drugs in your system. I would immediately get a second opinion on the surgery, because you don't wanna fkuc up your knee too.

As retarded as this will sound, please take my word and experience on it. Acupuncture and other Chakra manipulations will AID the healing, especially after surgery. Remember, Mind over Matter, always.
