Fox doesn't just want The Day the Earth Stood Still to be a
...They want it to be a galactic hit.

This sounds pretty cool, and interesting. Too bad it'll take eight years for it to reach a supposedly alien populated planet or ship or whatever.
If they signal back and say "the movie sucked, title was also a bit misleading." Then I hope to God that Fox doesn't send them any Freidberg & Selzter films!( EX...Date Movie, Epic Movie and Meet The Spartans).
Also hope Fox cares to explain what a film is to these aliens, or if they already know, then good, espeicially in terms of knowing it's ficiton and doesn't relate to their kind.

I really think this movie will bomb. The ONLY reason I wanted to see it was to see what if Gort was in it, but they already showed him in the commercials. If its good, then awesome, but I don't have my hopes up.

Now, is it really a good idea to send, through space, a movie about aliens showing up on our planet and kicking the **** out of us?
Thats like showing Snakes on a Plane or Die Hard 2, on a plane
Or playing Jenga on the anniversary of 9/11

It's a film where humanity displays its most ferocious and self-destructive elements (well, I'm just going by the original, like), so it might serve as a good warning for any space-Napoleans.

The film only scored 2 out 4 from the seattle times. I haven't even bothered to look at the rest of the reviews yet.

I wonder if Keanu Reeves will have his own Galaxy Quest with an alien race on a thin line of survival. Too bad for them space isn't a big deal for Reeves, *referring back to the star trek parody with him and Christian Slater on The Critic( 1994)*

I don't see why people go see a movie for a specific trailer nowadays. The Internet has them.

In a Galaxy Far Far Awry issue 1: Serial Fiction Sideshow now for sale.
Issue 2: Home Sweet Home Invasion also for sale.
Back issue 3: Technophobia coming soon. And you can help!

If aliens can get it for free, why would we have to pay for the eventual DVD (assuming we want to buy the film)

I thought it was pretty good, but IMHO they overpayed Kaatu as Jesus and Biblical over tones way too much and maybe needed to slow the pace down in some places. The original was so subtle and better paced whereas the remake was a subtle as a chainsaw. It still had a lot nice touches to the original and enough turns to keep one on guessing to the end. Not a bad movie, but not a classic either. If you love the original you might this one if you accept it on it's own merits, otherwise you won't like it. I give it a 2.5 out 5.
Also I saw the new trailer to T4 and the trailers for X-Men Origins: Wolverine both are VERY COOL looking movies.

Cuz they have to wait four years for it. But, then again, we're almost forcing them to see it. We don't really have to.
