I think I spent around $150 altogether, but part of that was shipping charges because, with two jobs, it was easier to have stuff sent to me then go looking for it. I'd never done this before, either, dude. You might surprise yourself if you try. Thanks!

well, just a couple questions:
1. Did you have to sacrifice a perfectly good roadbuster to get that rear turbine?
2. What parts/Materials did you use for the sides, back, top, and other armored parts?
3. Were did you get those perfect weapons? The rooftop mounted guns and fron-side mounted rockets are perfection
4. Can't all this be achieved (More or less) Without all the modding? Iv'e seen some wicked fan modes for this guy that speak for themselves, but never truly looked like this
5. Wouldn't it be cheeper and easier just to mod Deluxe roadbuster into his armored form? And seeing as how we have Topspin and roadbuster, and Leadfoot's coming, we'd have them all on a deluxe scale, for lack of knowledge of a Human Alliance Topspin, though it'd be foolish for there NOT to be a human alliance Topspin, wouldn't it?
ANYWAY!
I Love Leadfoot, and feel the HA got the shaft in car mode, and I feel the Deluxe Roadbuster got it pretty bad with his deluxe mold. Hasbro COULD make it easier on us by just releasing all three in armored mode...but it's hasbro, they wont do that.

Hmmm. I have a condensed materials list in part one of this post, but to get more detailed for you:
1. Nothing was taken from HA Roadbuster. I don't like the way that looks on other customized Leadfoots. That turbine is an amalgam of the original trunk lid (cut off with a heated Exacto knife), sliced up pieces of HA Whirl's main rotor blades, the spoiler off Alternator Sunstreaker, and the thrusters from DOTM Cyberverse Starscream's Orbital Assault Carrier.
2. The side armor/ammo pods are also part of Starscream's carrier. I removed the thrusters, took them apart, and glued together the matching halves to make the rear turbine. The remaining matching halves became the pods, with bits cut from HA Crosshairs and glued on to sort of disguise them. The side turbines are Energon Rodimus rocket launchers with the fins cut off. The rear trunk armor was cut from his spoiler, the front squares in the grill are pegs off him. The "42" panels and panels under the rockets are cut from a Gillete razor refill case. The rocket mounts and front bumper guards are HA Icepick's snowmobile skis cut apart. The triangles on the bumper guards are cut from a strip of thin foam rubber with adhesive on one side that I took from one of my jobs. The windshield armor is just cardstock I ran through my computer printer to color.
3. The front guns under the headlights are from HA Crosshairs. The roof weapons are Deluxe Topspin's roof guns with the pegs cut off and half of HA Pinpointer's twin mini guns repainted. The ammo drum on the center gun is plumber's epoxy. I filled in the the cavities on Topspin's guns with epoxy also. The epoxy also helps hold the magnets I glued inside the guns; there are thin strips of steel (plumber's straps) glued under the roof with resin epoxy. I did it that way because I didn't want to fill the roof with holes or hit the driver in the head with a peg. The center gun, ehhhh, I screwed that up - literally. When I was drilling a peg hole for it I accidentally drilled out the swivel joint, not realizing I was right over it. I set an upside down screw into the joint with epoxy and screwed the gun onto it.
4. I guess I don't understand this question. I don't see how you can get this result without modding. If you want to know if this can be achieved without cutting up Leadfoot, I don't think so. I've seen people try it on deviantART.com, and I don't like it. It looks like a Lego set exploded.
5. I tried previously to mod a Deluxe Roadbuster, but it didn't look right. I'm not much of a sculptor, and he has too much armor plating bursting out all around him, like Topspin. HA Leadfoot was the right scale for me to work with, and I was already giving him a different driver than he came with. I am moderately certain we'll be getting an HA Topspin, probably late in the end of the series. If you look at the pit crew diorama for Roadbuster, you'll see someone made a packing mistake somewhere. The crew is dressed in Topspin's colors with Topspin's weapons around them, not Roadbuster's.

you didn't explain the rockets, but JEEZE! That's alot of work, isn't it? I mean, once you've been doing it for a while, It may not seem like it, but WOW, that seems to be alot of hacking and cutting and modding and sculpting and screwing and gluing and :BOOM:
ANYWAY, I prefer to just wait for the deluxe. I Wish hasbro would pump out a deluxe armored roadbuster, but once again, it's hasbro.
Still, what you said about Roadbuster's packageing intrigues me. do you happen to have any pictures?

Sorry, figured I forgot something. The rockets are Q-Tip shafts with cardstock fins I glued on by hand. 45 minutes for all of them. And, believe me, it does seem like a lot of work while you're doing it. I spent an entire week not sleeping between jobs at one point.
I have a theory about the non-armored Wreckers. It seems there's one in each size class, so I think the fault lies with NASCAR, not Hasbro. I think they would only allow use of their cars if one car for each character looked normal. Licensing agreements get sticky that way.
I don't have any pics of the diorama, sorry. I noticed it when I opened up my Roadbuster. It's definitely Topspin's roof cannons in one technician's hands, though, and the whole crew is dressed in blue. And since the Cyberverse Topspin is normal, I'm betting a Human Alliance figure will be armored.

I Knew about nascar wanting a stock version of each, but my question is, why not 3 cyberverse stock cars? Why noth three Deluxe stock cars, 3 armored Human Alliance, 3 Armored Cyberverse? Why not have all three regular stock cars in one class and all three armored in another? That's my question.
EDIT* Quetips huh? Well, be carefull with those rocket pods then!
And another thing. What if we WERE supposed to get three armored deluxes, but instead, what we got was that armored Bumblebee? I doubt it.
You know what would be AWESOME?
If someone made a Human Alliance Nitro Bumblebee. I'm not a big Bumblebee fan, but you cant say that wouldn't be cool, or at least interesting to see.
