That I did, then I looked around my room and decided a more accurate subtitle is "Destroyer of Mortgages".

This is a horse I can't hitch my wagon to, but be damned if I'm not going enjoy watching it stroll by. Can't wait to follow Unicron though production and see more completed pics. What they did with Jabba's barge was pretty amazing.

Off topic; I agree with others and hope that HasLab doesn't stay limited to just big expensive things. Accessory packs and obscure characters would be cool too. And I'll double down on that Ark playset that Cobo mentioned. If they're going keep going big I want to see playsets and dioramas.

I also wish they hadn't made a "compromise chin". He was clean shaven in ONE sequence. ONE. In every other scene and in plenty of other materials he had his forked beard.

If they felt his chin needed a clean shaven look I'd have preferred a removable chin that you could switch out.

I think this is this project's biggest flaw. I don't think it'll change. The pricy thing is still ... awfully tempting to me, though.

What's worse is that the gray preproduction model HAD the two-point beard!

With fan feedbacks, small details may still change.

Gotta be honest, the "divorce class" gags gave me a good chuckle, even as someone whose parents are going through a rather ugly divorce. Shame some people didn't seem to think so.

So, we now have an answer for why the figure has a big chin instead of a beard.

David Willis asked Phillip Donnelly to ask John Warden on the SDCC floor about the lack of a proper pointy beard, and the answer given was that, due to the transformation, the pointy beard would have had to have been made out of rubber, which would have caused problems.

So, this non-pointy beard-length chin was a conscious decision made after some troubleshooting.

And they couldn't include one even as a clip-on accessory because...?

I guess for over $500 people want that beard lol!! So this whole production based on the price X number of backers is $4.4 Million which is almost the enitre budget of what it costs to make the '86 Movie. Man inflation is a mutha....Well it wouldnt be the first time I spent that much for a figure well not a Transformer. Then come to think of it Soul of Chogokin GX line still has cheaper options with quality. Overall I like the presence but I already have SoC GX-88 for Preorder and that was $330 so my wallet is rated for regular release toys until that time. I do like it kibble, no beard, the whole 9 but I dont do crowd funding with all the money Hasbro has or Pulse or who ever Hasbro affiliate you put it up for sale and I will buy it. Consumers need to take their power back and make these corporations pony up that R&D and make it happen.

For those who find that 27" tall, 19lbs heavy TRANSFORMING Unicron expensive at 575$US, here's a little something to put things in perspective.

This make Has-Lab Unicron seem like a deal!

All this set up means is they get the money first then hand over the item (knowing full well what would happen if they didn't at this junction)

I wouldnt exactly comapre this figure to Unicron as this was made without any crowd funding. It's wasn't inteneded to transform and it did not require backers. Also this is made by Sentinel which had the official license to make the figure but probably had to inflate the price to cover their costs. I think if that Scorponok was made by Hasbro it would popaobaly have been much cheaper. They released it as any normal company would do. Now if this Unicron comes out at the intended price point based on the goal reached, then we can make the comparison with apples, oranges, pears, grapes, onions, etc. For what it is worth though I would put my money on Unicron when and if it goes for sale. I have my divorce papers ready lol

Sounds like grade A BS to me. If the beard is the same length as the chin then why would that effect the transformation? How does less plastic not allow for a proper transformation? And if for some unknown reason they absolutely had to make him with a chin that size and shape then why not sculpt the beard details into it rather than sculpt details and a blue block that isn't accurate to anything? It wouldn't have looked great, but it would have looked BETTER and we could at least say they tried.

Oh no I get it. It would be a feat to produce and this to me is of a Masterpiece level even beyond that. I already talked it over with the wife if it were to go up for sale I would buy it and she said OK. I always do cost analysis in my head daily so even when I am off work I'm adding and subtracting and multiplying lol. I'm just weary of any corwd funding I have been burned.

One thing is (almost) sure, is that ONLY(?) backers may receive the figure. No over stock. No "sales". So, if you really want it, better back it now or you may miss out.

Beside, the wife could easily be convinced if you just stop buying "extra things" like normal Transformers for a month and a half. 600$US can be saved faster than you think.

Just to go back to the Scorponok figure, I think the key difference is in the number of units produced. Not the licensing fee. I don't know how many units they made, but it may just be a few hundreds. And the thing is STILL in stock everywhere.

On the other hands, Unicron NEED 8000 backers. The largest number so far for a Has-Lab project. And to keep the cost as a "low" 575$, 8K units need to be produced at the bare minimum. Just imagine how much that Unicron would cost if the production run was limited to just a few hundreds units...

Actually I spend more than that just lately I have been dealing with a slew of stuff financially (kids,house, toys I have, etc) but If I miss I just miss. I already have added up my last preorder run and with the two SoC Voltrons it's enough for me. I just made sure if I do back it, I will not lose my head if I pull the trigger lol

There's one thing I'd bet on about this Unicron.

By the time it comes out, we probably still won't have any Power of the Primes galleries

Thus, one should kiss the idea of a 50% off Has-Lab Unicron à la Marshall goodbye.
Rather, it WILL be the opposite.

I call for 1000$US minimum on Ebay and such when it happen.

Just a random thought I had; This version of Unicron is based on the character from TF:TM, a film released 36 years ago. In its initial release it only made $3,000, the 2007 film did that in 30 min. Season 3 of the cartoon was the start of the decline of the property in the US.

Just some points to keep in mind if, IF the big guy doesn't make it.
