I have not read the book, but I really did enjoy the movie, much more so than the Grinch or Cat in the Hat.
Animation is fluent, and consistent, barring a few purposeful changes in style. Seriously you'll fall deep into escapism in this film, the digital world they have created is just that good.
Lip syncing is above par, and the little things like; hair, eye movements, reactionary motions are all very very good.
Jim Carrey is great as the voice is never "Mask Carrey" or "Ventura Carrey". Carrey makes Horton a bit of a nutter, but it fits the character and the dialogue, without ever being over the top. Carrell does no wrong either, a solid and well delivered performance. Oh and Vlad is brilliant, just trust me.
Honestly I struggle to remember the last film I enjoyed this much, it may be short at only 85 or so minutes, but it is damn great, the animation is beautiful, voice actors perfectly cast, script tight and true to the general quirkiness of Seuss, with even his morals making it through unscathed.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.
