If the spark was the soul of Transformer, shouldn't Dinobot 2 BE a clone of Rampage? And if the spark flows through the whole body, how can one extract it without killing the transformer?
I mean, I feel the spark isn't a soul ... it's a heart, I feel that the spark has to be only in that one area, and that it's like a power core ... if the spark is terminated, it's like having a dead battery ... in my opinion, this is why sparks can be extracted and transfered and why a transformer can be reformatted.
I mean, if a spark contained memories, why would Beast Wars have a back-up of them? While I personally think that a spark contains more than just power, I do not feel that it "fills" the entire body, there is circuitry for that.

Canon says that the spark suffuses the entire body, it does not reside in one particular part. It's stated specifically on page 52 of MtMtE #8. It is the life essence of a TransFormer. That is what canon says, and that is what I go by.
