How does Cyclonus eat/refuel?

So this has been puzzling me for a long time. When the others drink their energon from a cube or straw (in the case of those with masks like Tailgate here) refueling is pretty straight forwards.
Now if you look at IDW Cyclonus his cheeks have gaps. Wouldn't whatever he tries to consume spill through those gaps?
