After giving 15 years of my life to the soul sucking entity that is known as Wal-Mart, they fired my ass.

Why did they fire me you may ask? It was because they said I missed 14 days in a 6 month period, they said you're only allowed to miss 3 days in a 6 month period. I know I didn't miss no damn 14 days, I admit I missed maybe 5 or 6 days but not 14!

I think they were just gunning for me because out of everyone on the night maintenance crew I was making the most money at $15.65 an hour. I could more than likely fight them on it but I don't feel like it, I'm just tired of putting up with Wal-Marts crap all together. So I just went ahead and applied for unemployment and I cashed out my 401k that I had with them, so I'll just live off of that for awhile.

It just pisses me off that I gave them 15 years of my life, never getting into trouble or anything and they just throw me to the curb like trash.

That sucks ass, I've also had that happen to me a couple of years ago.

Yeah, that does suck. I feel your pain as I lost my manufacturing job of 14 years in 09 (the day before April Fools day no less)..

It took some time and bouncing between a couple of jobs (and another layoff after a year) but I am in a better place now though.

Sorry man, Wal Mart really doesn't place value on its dedicated people. It's tough, but you'll make it.

Sorry dude, that's a crappy situation! They made my wife feel bad for being forced to quit because she was put on bedrest for the final 6 months of our son's pregnancy. Couldn't have her delivering a preemie on our low incomes! My little brother has been there for almost 9 years I think. Hope they don't do this to him anytime soon!

But I was also laid off in Dec of 08 from a job I held for 5 years. All part of the housing market collapse. I did get 18 months worth of unemployment which aided me when I finally went back to college. Didn't finish before it ran out, but it helped for a year & a half to get as much done as possible! Retail companies just suck!! I work for Sears and my hours are getting cut so bad that I can hardly make ends meet. And they expect me to get all this work done and when it doesn't get done they get upset. It's like, if you want the work done, give me more hours. And I can't get another job as it's so hard to find anything these days. That really sucks what they did to you. It's like, why can't they look at other things rather then missed days. It's like these places don't want you to have a life. If you get sick, they rather you come in and get others sick then stay home. Or if you have to miss a day cause of car trouble or something. I mean it's life for crying out loud. I'm sick of retail myself.

Sorry to hear about your hours, right before they fired me they were starting to cut hours of everyone on overnights. Even though nights is pretty much the backbone of the company management is like "Oh lets cut their hours so nothing gets done and we can bitch at them for not doing anything...." Frickin' retards.

I feel your pain Target did something similar to me last year after being there 8 years

I think it was you pay rate they didn't want to pay you anymore then that unless your in managment.You know they come up with some excuse to kick you off there payroll

I feel your pain. I lost my job at walmart a few years back and had to move because of it, although in retrospect it was the best thing that ever happened to me. Walmart is an evil, horrible place and I like where I'm living now a whole lot more. Walmart isn't just a job, it's the bare-bottom, most soul-sucking job out there, even lower than fast food. Whatever you get next is a step up, you'll see.

I would say this to you (but I don't know you at all so it might be of no use lol) it's probably better man..look at your options before you jump into just another "job."

I would consider education, taking out a loan and maybe starting up a small business etc..

But if you have obtained skills to market yourself, maybe going back to work for another company is up your alley..

I work in an office and the older women and men I work with there tell me "long gone are the days where a person retired with company the started with."

They are right..everything is changing now with technology, outsourcing etc..
