Is the IDW rendition of Beast wars connected to the original G1 Cartoon or the Generation one comics of IDW?

It's connected to the Beast Wars/Machines animated series and loosely connected to either the old G1 cartoon or comic.

The IDW G1 is an entirely different continuity from what I can see.

The IDW Beast Wars comics are (for better or worse depending on who you talk to) intertwined with the Beast Wars television show (although they are all out of synch with the tv cast, meaning there is very little interaction or influence on the television show).

So by proxy that means that the Beast Wars comics are indeed connected to the original G1 cartoon, though again the influences each series has upon one another are minimal.

Since the IDW G1 series is set in it's own Universe and has no relation to any previously created Transformers series it has no ties what-so-ever to the IDW Beast Wars comics.
