Indy IV Opens In May '08
The BoxOfficeMojo.com Web site reported that Paramount Pictures has set a May 22, 2008, release date for the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones movie, which the studio is now officially referring to as the "Fourth Installment of the Indiana Jones Adventures." The date maintains the Memorial Day weekend release strategy of the last two Indiana Jones movies, and it mirrors the last two Star Wars movies and The Matrix Reloaded with its Thursday launch, the site reported.
Also currently scheduled for Memorial Day weekend 2008 is Warner Brothers' Speed Racer. Two other event-style pictures have previously staked out May 2008 releases dates: Paramount's Iron Man (May 2) and Disney's The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (May 16).
Blanchett Joins Indy 4
Cate Blanchett has signed on to star in the fourth installment of the Indiana Jones adventures, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Harrison Ford already has boarded the project, which will be produced by Lucasfilm and directed by Steven Spielberg.
With David Koepp's screenplay shrouded in secrecy, it is unclear what character Blanchett will play. But sources told the trade paper that the Oscar-winning actress has landed a starring role.
Shooting will begin in June in Los Angeles and at undisclosed locations around the world. Paramount Pictures will release Indy 4 around the world on May 22, 2008, with a handful of territories opening the following day.
Frank Marshall is producing, with George Lucas and Kathleen Kennedy executive-producing.

The Crimson King wrote:The only actor worthy of playing Indy's kid is River Phoenix, and he's been dead for over a decade.

Winstone Joins Ford In Indy 4
British actor Ray Winstone is joining the cast of the fourth Indiana Jones movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Winstone, who stars as the title character in Robert Zemeckis' upcoming Beowulf, has signed on for a major role in the untitled film being referred to as Indy 4.
Although the film's plot is being closely guarded, sources told the trade paper that Winstone will play star Harrison Ford's sidekick.

Indy 4 Plot Rumors Posted
C.H.U.D. reported a rumor that the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones movie begins with a fight between Indy and the Russians in Area 51 and deals with a story reminiscent of Erich von Daniken's Chariots of the Gods? In that book, the author posits that aliens provided technology to ancient races.
Citing anonymous sources, the site said that the sequel, unofficially called Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods, will shoot near Los Angeles and in New Haven, Conn.; New Mexico; and Hawaii.
Shia LaBeouf's character, meanwhile, will be a '50s "greaser" type, with jeans, a leather jacket and a motorcycle, who will be thrown together with Indy. They will learn they're related in a pivotal action scene, the site reported.
The site added that the rumored details of the plot conform with those in the earlier Frank Darabont script, which ultimately wasn't used; it involves crystal skulls and aliens and takes place partly in South American temples.
Allen Back In Indy 4?
C.H.U.D. reported yet another rumor about the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones movie: That original Indy love interest Karen Allen will return as Marion Ravenwood—and (spoiler!) that she will be revealed as the mother of Shia LaBeouf's character.
Allen played the spunky heroine in the original Raiders of the Lost Ark and is often remembered fondly as the best of Harrison Ford's Indy leading ladies.
The site earlier reported rumors about the sequel's storyline.
Connery Not Doing Indy 4
Laying to rest months of rumors, Sean Connery said that he will not reprise the role of Henry Jones in the upcoming fourth Indiana Jones movie in a statement posted on the official Indiana Jones Web site.
"I get asked the question so often, I thought it best to make an announcement," the 76-year-old actor said. "I thought long and hard about it, and if anything could have pulled me out of retirement, it would have been an Indiana Jones film. I love working with [director] Steven [Spielberg] and [producer] George [Lucas], and it goes without saying that it is an honor to have Harrison [Ford] as my son. But in the end, retirement is just too damned much fun."
Connery, who played Indy's dad in 1989's Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, retired from acting in 2005. He had this advice for Ford, who turns 65 in July and whom he referred to as "junior": "Demand that the critters be digital, the cliffs be low and for goodness sake keep that whip by your side at all times in case you need to escape from the stunt coordinator! This is a remarkable cast, and I can only say, 'Break a leg, everyone.' I'll see you on May 22, 2008, at the theater!"
Indiana Jones 4 will co-star Shia LaBeouf, Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone and John Hurt. It's in preproduction.
