They've made it clear that any Avenger in the movie will have had his/her own movie, or it isn't happening. I dunno if they're going to have Spider-Man or Wolverine, but it'd make a lot of sense.

And yes, they are going to be making Captain America and Thor movies, at least.

There is only 1 word that can describe this movie: AWESOME.

So awesome in fact, I had to rush over to Wal Mart when it was done to pick up an Iron Man/Monger figure.

Re: IRON MAN: SPOILERS!!!!

Postby Avatar Prime » Mon May 05, 2008 4:24 am

I had to wait till the 3rd to see Iron Man but it was well worth the wait of one more day. I'm hoping to go see it again today or tomorrow. I loved watching the movie and I was a bit surprised by the fact it was able to hold my attention in the slower parts where in most movies the slower parts will make me lose some of my attention.
I loved the ending and the after credits scene, as well as the scenes showing him building the device to keep him living as well as his suits. I always disliked that most comic book based films don't explain where the suits come from, I'm still trying to figure out where a near broke Peter Parker was able to get his suit in the Spider-Man films. One of my favorite scene is where the robot who kept screwing up finally does something right.
I can't wait for the sequel, especially if Rhodes has to don the Iron Man or War Machine armors. I'm hoping they keep in the Tony Stark cameo in Hulk, and that they do Nick Fury going to recruit Hulk as well. I wish the Avengers movie could come sooner as it'll probably won't come out till after 2010.
Hopefully when I go the second time I won't have people laughing at the serious moments or barely paying attention and having to ask who people are shortly after they're introduced and mistaking S.H.I.E.L.D.'s name for sheet.
Can someone fill me in on some of the comic references? I've only read a few Iron Man comics, the first Ultimates mini-series, and my memory of the 90s cartoon is hazy.

Zomg! I saw it! It was awesome! Nice liitle S Jackson cameo. I have to say the credits took ages to roll down. We were the only ones there and the cleaners were getting a bit impatient! But yeah, great film. It's Marvel studios first film you know.
"Avengers assemble!"
Did anyone else see a trailer for a film named Hancock? It looked absolutely hilarious! I can't wait.

OK...I saw it twice Friday. Here are my thoughts:

First off, =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~

Next, I'd just like to add =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~

And finally, =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~

There is already a TON of speculation about the after-credits scene. Will we also see SAJ as Fury in the Hulk to recruit Dr. Banner? Possibly...but I'm not holding my breath. Now, the "Avengers Initiative". We already have confirmation of a Thor movie (2010, I think). Which Avengers group will they go with? A Captain America movie can be intigrated into an Avengers origin movie...I thought the animated Lionsgate movie did this very well. They may have to remove the whole Chitauri alien thing to make it believable. A Hank Pym movie would overdo it I think. He doesn't have the name to warrant his own movie. And what about Black Widow? I can see the whole Pym/Wasp/Black Widow background written into an initial Avengers movie...The biggest hurdle will be financial- that's a LOT of big names in one movie...but then again they keep making those really bad "Ocean's (insert number here)" movies and they have a lot of star power in them.

One more thing: Stan Lee as "Hugh Hefner" was priceless... :APPLAUSE:
It finally happened. The Chicago Cubs won the World Series. Yes, I cried.

I just came across this article about the now planned sequel for Iron Man which is set for release on April 30, 2010. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080505/film_nm/ironman_dc

In it they have release dates for Thor, June 4, 2010. It also states that the Captain America movie, The First Avenger: Captain America(Working title), will come out on May 6, 2011 and the Avengers will come out in July of 2011.
There's no mention of Hulk or Ant Man though, so I don't know if they are going to be in it. They aren't planning to release any self produced movies next year, but we'll have at least X-Men Origins: Wolverine next year.

I should have known you'd beat me to this question.

But, yeah; there's lots of stuff thrown to the fans in the background:
"The 10 rings", Rhodes saying "next time" to the mkII armor, the AI being named Jarvis, etc, etc, etc.....

I got the 10 Rings, Rhodes, Jarvis, the Iron Man as Stark's bodyguard, and Jarvis' gold paint job on the Mark III armor, but other then that I don't think I got anything other then that though. So pretty much anything other then those I'd like to know about.

No, it can't. Marvel wants each Avenger to have their own movie before an Avengers movie is made. Meaning Captain America is going to get his own movie.

Well it would depend on how they want the Avengers movie. But Cap defiantly needs his own movie.

Though it needs to only be the origin story, then him kicking the crap out of Red Skull and getting frozen.

Then for the end credits scene Fury could be told they found something in Antartic waters, then for the Avengers movie itself, have Cap brought in unfrozen and then he gets to deal with "holy crap this isn't the 40's"

Kinda like the cartoon avengers movie.

Although not every Avenger needs his own film. Ant-Man really doesn't, neither does Hawkeye, or Black Widow, or the Vision really. If anything Vision's origin could be told some in the Cap movie and then more in the Avengers movie. Hawkeye and Black Widows origin could be told in the Avengers movie as well.

Because if ever Avenger had their own film. All the actors playing the Avengers would age into their 50's-60's.

Secondly, Hawkeye and Black Widow movies would have a 99% chance to suck terribly. Think Elektra.

Third I doubt we'll see Spider-man or Wolverine in the Avengers, the Spider-man and X-men movies came out when Marvel was still dealing through the movie companies instead of having their own movie company and just shooting it through the studios.

So unless FOX signs off on it, doubt we'll see Spider-man and Wolverine in the films.(Thats why Marvel didn't mention any other parts of the Marvel Universe in the SM/XM movies, so they could retain the rights.)

Well, he called Favereau (director cameo as the chauffer) "Happy", as in "Happy Hogan".

I read that during the credits one of the armor wire-frame models is the warmaching armor.

Rhodey's ringtone was from the animated series: "Tony Stark makes you feel, he's the cool exec with the heart of steel" (credited in movie music credits).

Another one I read: When Tony is first assembling the Mark III, it's gold at first and then red and gold (like in the comics) but the computer simulation briefly shows the armor as red and silver ala the Silver Centurion armor.

That's it for now, I'm sure I'll think of something later...

Glad I'm going to see it again in a week or two so i can watch for all the stuff I only read about.

There was a brief cameo of Nick Fury (S.L.Jackson) welcoming Stark to a 'larger universe' and asking to tell him about the 'avenger intiative'. It was short but sweet.

There was also Nick furrys saying that Tony wasnt the only hero in the universe, mentioning the "Avenger Intiative" which is the tital of one of the Avengers comic books.

Every drink that Tony had was a alcoholic drink which is a refrance to Tony being a "alcoholic".

They refranced a great story arc from Ironmams comics called "Armor Wars" which featured Stark tech being leaked and sold on the Black Market and Tony doing every thing he could do to get his tech back or destroy it.

An other story arc was refranced when Stain got Tony removed as head of the company.

I'll post more when I remember them.

3. Rhodey is let in on Stark's "secret identity", and shows an interest in the MkII armor.

The general public is later let in on Stark's "secret identity".
