What would they have to show? A dealer room that is miniscule compared to most comic cons? Forums that they would not be allowed to bring their cameras into? They could go on a tour or visit a class. Oh brother that would be dull.
Short of a local news crew mentioning that transfans are in town, it is not likely to be shown on tv.
Hasbro posted some interviews with fans and a couple of the actors who came out some years ago. Nothing that any television show would be interested in though. Most people that aren't transfans wouldn't even know who the actors were.

Hey now ... you've been to BotCon before. You make it sound kind of "blah" with your post. Botcon's an extremely fun time and there's always media coverage of it whether it's local or larger companies present such as Paramount, G4, Rhino (Warner Brothers) or whoever. The Transformers brand is pretty darn HUGE ... big enough to warrant making a movie that made over 700 million dollars in 2007. I'd definitely say it's not a small time thing ... maybe 10 years ago, but not now.
Now compared to comic cons ... that's right, it is a pretty small thing. But as far as conventions go that are dedicated to a particular brand, I'd say this is quite a big deal. Comparing BotCon to a ComicCon isn't fair at all. A better comparison would be like going to an X-Men convention, which I don't think I've ever heard of before.
