and the fact the ratchet was also seen not too long after when devastator starts firing still in vehicle mode as well.
I just chalk it up to they were still in disguise.

i rememeber ratchet backing up right when BB and ironhide start to run for the vehicle to block the missiles from starscream. then BB's legs arent attached to him and he's crawling to give the all spark to sam. to the right of sam is the solstice, and it just sat in that scene like nothing happened. thats what i guess i was trying to say.

I was wondering that myself. It's like he's taking a little nap. Oh, never mind your buddy just got his legs blown off!

Haha, yeah. That was bothering me the whole time, too. He just stayed there in his alt mode, not doing anything at all...

Apparently, the Decepticons base their vision on movement... Like a frog...

That's called the real shot. Bay used the real Solstice car in this scene. The driver was hiding under the dash to make it appear like there was no driver. With no way to see the action right in front of the car, the driver failed to make the car react.
I think that driver was fired when Bay saw the final cut of the film.

rachet and jazz backup out of the way of where the missiles were headed while Irondhide and bumblebee were fiddling with the car to block the blast from killing the humans.

Same: "Jazz, transform and help Bumblebee!"
Jazz: "I can't!! General Motors and Pontiac are only paying me to stand here in vehicle mode!"

I think Bay failed to see that one.
Jazz should have immediately transformed upon seeing Bumblebee crippled and crawling. He should have bent down to try to pull Bumblebee away, or jump in front of him with gun in his hand to try to protect a fallen comrade.
Or Jazz could have just backed away on his own. For whatever reason.
Sitting there like a showroom car, is simple dumb.
Is Bay under pressure from GM to give Solstice car mode more screen time?
Or is Bay simply too stressed out to have notice that kink in his movie?

Bad script.
Jazz was not scripted doing anything, so Bay just left him in Car mode for GM.
Probably another miunte of film that could have been cut and replaced by another minute of actual good stuff, a longer Barricade Bumblebee chase, prime vs. Barricade, more Decepti-time etc etc.

Thank god someone else had a problem with this. Not ONLY...does Jazz just there, but Spike (and yes, I'm calling him Spike because that's just who he is) has to slam on Jazz' hood and tell him to 'Back up!'. Come on now, how many millions of zillions of kajillions of years have you been at war and seen close friends dying (or being ripped in half) all around you?
Get with the program, you're a robot, that's kind of what you do. Stinkin' TF movie Jazz. I miss Scattman.
Ah but that's just my G1 purist side talking; it was a great movie as movies go. Rushed and with a low budget (for all those effects and actors and kaboom's, it was comparatively low budget-and rushed in the sense of these few plot holes)
But dang, a buncha giant robots named after just about every single one of my G1 favorites...yeah, that's how I like to spend a Saturday afternoon.
A great summer action flick, overall.
Hard to come by these days...damn I'm long winded. Just look at my freakin' screen name.
