Yeah, specialty shops like Barnes and Noble. Seriously, the vast majority of comics are still kid friendly. In fact(having worked in books stores and comic stores), it's generally the opposite of what you said(kid friendly ones are easy to find, adult oriented are generally saved for comic stores).

You should just tell him there are a lot of people, my self included that are over the age of 20 still collecting transformers figures. Sure there are lots of kids who get transformers but there are a lot of adults who get them as well. Just telling him adults like Transformers as well isn't good enough. I'm fairly certain GaffaTrion started with that. Since this thread exists, I can safely assume that his friend believes in his position enough that telling him "You're wrong" isn't enough to convince him otherwise.
Show him the new movies. That's about the only thing I can think of that would look mature to a mainstream audience. If that doesn't work, then he's a lost cause.

Why do we have to justify what we like as a hobby? Just tell the friend that you like Transformers and if he doesn't like it, then he can deal with it.
