Yeah, specialty shops like Barnes and Noble. Seriously, the vast majority of comics are still kid friendly. In fact(having worked in books stores and comic stores), it's generally the opposite of what you said(kid friendly ones are easy to find, adult oriented are generally saved for comic stores).

This is easier said than done, but I would definitely ignore your friend regarding his/her commments about Transformers. Your hobby is your hobby and you do not need to justify yourself to anyone in this regard.

Out of curiosity, does your friend collect anything? What are his/her interests?

If I was a kid then I'd still be in elementary or middle school. XDD I still collect the figures. Transformers isn't just for kids, for this I can assure you.

You should just tell him there are a lot of people, my self included that are over the age of 20 still collecting transformers figures. Sure there are lots of kids who get transformers but there are a lot of adults who get them as well. Just cuz it says 5 and up and on the box does not mean that we are all 7 and 12 XD.

Just telling him adults like Transformers as well isn't good enough. I'm fairly certain GaffaTrion started with that. Since this thread exists, I can safely assume that his friend believes in his position enough that telling him "You're wrong" isn't enough to convince him otherwise.

Show him the new movies. That's about the only thing I can think of that would look mature to a mainstream audience. If that doesn't work, then he's a lost cause.

Why do we have to justify what we like as a hobby? Just tell the friend that you like Transformers and if he doesn't like it, then he can deal with it. It is not your job and not your responsibility to ensure that others approve of your likes and dislikes in this world. You like Transformers -- so what?

(I feel like we were all defending a Cybertronian building from bombardment and it collapsed anyway from building stress).

It's unfortunate that the two of you ended up coming to blows. I refuse to believe it was destined to happen, but can guess that it was very difficult to avoid it happening eventually.I hope both of you will find an easy way to restore the peace between you, if not the friendship.
