Gotta admit, I've never been a big DC fan. But I enjoyed Justice League, even though I never saw the end of Unlimted(saw up to when Braniac possessed Luthor. What a lame way to end a really cool arc!). Speaking of Unlimited, anyone got a screencap of the JL vs. Gamera?
Anyway, I saw the "trailer" for Superman: Doomsday, and it looks sweet! Sweet enough for me to consider maybe buying the Death, World Without, and Return of Superman Graphic Novels so I can read the story beforehand.
There's also the book, Death and Return of Superman, by Roger Stern. (Who was an Action Comics writer for a while) It has flashbacks to a lot of stories, specifically Man of Steel.
But I suppose I should still pick up some form of it's comic version.
The Book is probably closer to the storyline for the movie because the comic had green lantern, and supergirl, and the justice league and I think they are trimming the movie down to only focus on supes.

The book is almost a word-for-word retelling of the comic, with a ton of stuff thrown in. (Mostly narrative, but also flashbacks to Man of Steel, like I mentioned.)
So Green Lantern, the Justice League, Batman, Supergirl, and a bunch of other guys are in it.

Dude, I read it only a few months ago. Guy Gardener and the rest of the League (Though most of the Mainstays (Batman, Wonder Woman, J'Onn J'Onzz) weren't there) actually fought against Doomsday. One of them died! Though I don't remember which one.
And Batman does make an appearance, though it's very brief. When most of Metropolis is walking towards the park where Superman is to have his funeral, a terrorist tries to kill a Prime Minister of some foreign country, untill Batman comes out, completely unnoticed, and kicks the ever-loving **** out of him.
Or maybe he just conviced him not to go about with the assasination. I really can't remember.

You read the graphic novel or the hardcover/paperback no pictures novel. It's been a while so I may be wrong but I remember it being stripped down with on the core superman characters being in it.
