Kong's fist is going to be bigger than primal, and the amount of force behind it will be enough to pound primal into the ground. primal might be stronger than a human, be hes not that much stronger. if he had ranged weapons it might be different, but without them, even if he can fly, he cant attack without putting himself in danger. I think this fight would probably go along the lines of movie jazz vs movie megatron.
To reinforce this very credible assessment, lets look at the possible weights of King Kong and do the same for Primal.
Organic Primal, who can still fly when maximized, would be hard pressed to weight in over twice that of his beast mode counter part, seeing as they could mostly pass for them anyway (
see cheetor and tigertron). Lets give
Primal a weight of 900 lb (300 ponds more than an obese gorilla and nearly twice that of a healthy one in the wild at 500 lb.)
In show comparisons, I could see Primal lifting a rock his size (at least 2 tons.. ie Bumblebee) but not dealing well with a rock his size falling on him like
UU said. I could say the rock could even have traces of lead making it heavier. So lets say season 1
Optimus Primal could lift some were between 5 tons and 10 tons. (
yes Spiderman has lifted more) I'm still thinking 2 tons falling on a prone Primal will hurt him a lot.
I'm thinking
the spirit and intent of the original poster was for Optimus Primal not to use projectile weapons at all. Even G1 BumbleBee could shoot King Kong to death.
Now lets look at
King Kong with
his varying sizes. The scaled one that fights Godzilla would quite literally rip Primal in half, as
UU points out, but would the original one yield a better match up?
At 18 ft King Kong would
scale too more than 1,500 lb (likely closer to 2,000 lb for true mass) compared to the typical 6 ft Gorilla male and able to lift at least twice his weight of 3,000 lb (or 4,000 lb). Might just be Primal's fight.
note: This is the smallest size King Kong can be and purely height scaling is highly in Primal's favor. At 24 ft King Kong would
scale too easily more than 2,000 lb (likely closer to 3,000 lb for true mass/ volume scaling) compared to the typical 6 ft Gorilla male of 500lb and able to lift at least twice his weight for 4,000 lb (or 6,000 lb). Might go either way.
At 50 ft King Kong would prove too much for the maximal frater Captain turned Gorilla warrior.

The veracity of these numbers in relation to anything actually featuring Primal, of course, is questionable.
Height: 2.8m (9.19 feet).
Weight: 2 tons.
Running Speed: 60km (37.28 mph, beast mode), 50km (31.07 mph, robot mode).
Airspeed: Mach 7.
Maximum Power Output: 1,000,000 horsepower.
Primal was not faster than Starscream who proved faster than him in Waspinators nimble frame; though it was slower than Starscream's original and even Terrorsaur. So Mach 7 is out. Although I could see Mach 1 or even 2 maybe at 'maximum burn'.
If Primal is completely
willing to kill, like an evil Rhinox personality change, I could see him flying in at Mach speeds for a death dealing temple shot to the 8th wonder of the world. Much like Apollo did in the Authority#14 to an Avenger's "Giant" knock off named Titan.
