Maketoys website update
Don't know if this is news or not, but.........
Maketoys has updated their website with second set DUMP TRUCK & MOBILE CRANE and third set WHEEL LOADER & MIXER. They also mentioned at their front page saying Giant will be finished at the end of April and then will be the "GREEN". "グリーン" is green.

Overall, I like the look of the bot and vehicle modes better than the Hercules figures. But the head sculpts are really bad in my view, to include Giant's. I'm sure this will go the way of Herc and get third partied to death before its all said and done.

the g2 yellow sucks ass just looks awfull as constructicons it may have ruined the moulds for me .
Think of it as a test run - the yellow version will work out the bugs out in time for the green one.

And that way those of us who want a G2 version can actually get one. The yellow looks more like real construction vehicles and this way they didn't start in direct competition with Hercules. I still say it's wins all around. The real pain in the ass is going to be getting the money for the box set right after buying it month to month with no time to save in between.

Re: Maketoys website update
Geez, the yellow ones don't look bad. They just don't look like Devestator (to most). The upside is that you get to see all the flaws and get a real informed opinion about what you're buying before buying it. I agree; with Herc coming out they were wise to release big banna first.
Use this time to save up for jolly Green. As a TF fan I can't believe you'd really let just one set of colors ruin a mold for you entirely.

I guess the main fustration came frome the teasers it felt like it took such a long time to reveal
the blured pics then one at a time whatever they done then finally and there yellow not even a green prototype to take the edge off as far as i know
it is a good thing to think of it as these are a learning process for G1G and when i said ruined that was a bit harsh i never ment combined just individual the yellow just doesnt do it and those stickers are awfull they just remind me of a tonka dump truck i had as a kid with red stickers
Its awsome for those with g2 collections or whos just a fan , who knows when i finally see G2G combined i could be impressed
Im certain that with the green and purple its gonna give them a badass decepticon look at the minute they look like autobots thats another thing i cant shake off .
lets hope the price of the box set isnt too stupid.

Before it was anounced it was G2 im sure everybody assumed it was gonna be G1
then the 2 packs were anounced which is a great idea have them all in only 3 payments instead of six and that made the price seem easier on the wallet
all thats an excellent selling point not to get herc and sway the undiscided to giant
its just a big disappointment for me they arnt gonna do the same deal in green
Im hopeing it will be around the 450 at the most but thinking of pulling out that much in one go seems crazy for a transformer i dont know if i could bring myself to do it.

Hmm you have a valid point, many of them in fact. I guess other than bank robbery, hacking, or a lottery win, I'm one of the few who will just have to sit and admire, and maybe drool a lot!
Or spend my cash on buying my armour and more weapons for my training...ah the trauma of decisions.. Then again, 450 would get me a set of leather lamellar, chainmaille and a few new axes and hammers...

Why the yellow hate? Yellow is a more believable color than neon green, and anyway weren't the Constructicons originally more on the yellow side of the spectrum?
That said even I am a little skeptical on the colors as well, but at the prices these guys are going for in such limited numbers there's no way I could pass it up. I'm kinda thinking I'll get the whole set bit by bit and wait to see if the green one tickles me the right way. If it does I'll fall back on the price of the yellow giant by reselling it and using the money from that to get the green one... if that makes any sense.

eh? It doesnt matter if its more believable the fact is the constructicons being green is iconic the same way every other transformer has there own distinctive colours
Its not that i hate the yellow i hate the fact it screwed over the green getting the 2 pack release for whatever stupid reason MT wanted to do a box set
i know people say it was a good move to have no direct competion with herc but i dont know if it would have made that bigger a differnce in sales
if MT showed both colours in the first place im sure as we are doing fans will wait for what they want
but to me it makes more sense g2 would be a special box set and could have sold more.

Well by that point all the molds should be ready, so what's the point of selling them 2 at a time again?
Anyway it's gonna be like... 370-something bucks to get all the 2-packs. Sure it's in increments of $120 a month, but to some of us that's still a lot to put out in a short period. Plus, like I said, they could work as an investment in case the jolly green giant turns out better.
Autobot Genocide wrote:i know people say it was a good move to have no direct competion with herc but i dont know if it would have made that bigger a differnce in sales
Given how pricey the individual components of Hercules are by comparison to a 2 pack of these guys I think strained wallets would help make perhaps a fair difference. It did for those of us who made it this far!
Autobot Genocide wrote:if MT showed both colours in the first place im sure as we are doing fans will wait for what they want

Good points, but I still think considering this is the initial limited run of the figures it might come across better in the long run that they test the waters with a somewhat less desirable color scheme now in case something goes wrong like it did for the fragile parts of Hercules. That way they'll have any problems ironed out for the more popular colored ones.
EDIT: Okay, so I just regurgitated the points Mkall and Zodconvoy made without thinking... doesn't make them any less valid!

Great, opponion spew...i hope your planning on cleaning that up? I mean...yeah its an A.P.V (all points valid) but in all honesty was it a good idea to make devastator twice over?
TFC seems to have the lead anyway. Ah well...

People are already asking for an SG variant of the Herc set, so... multiple variations FTW?

I don't think it does, since TFU doesn't allow hot linking of their images

I'm not stupid and I'm not colorblind either, I'm very aware of the color differences. Still the original Devy looks yellow to me... perhaps a more virulent shade of yellow, but still.

That's weird because they come up for me, even when you quoted them. My Photobucket is nothing but 150+ pics that I've shared in threads here so I'm getting tired of doing that!

Still, Devastator was available in G1 green, G2 yellow, and G2 orange. I've seen KO's in red, blue, different green, different orange, etc.

Well, it kinda depends upon the person's own eyes actually, we all see colors a little differently I imagine, but I do vaguely remember those old reruns I watched on tape (not an actual G1 kid here either) having them look more yellow than on restored DVDs. Of course, I'm just repeating what I told you the other day bro.Shadowstream wrote:I'm not stupid and I'm not colorblind either, I'm very aware of the color differences. You may not be colorblind, but your natural color variance in your eyesight may be causing it. As pointed out, not everyone sees color shades exactly the same, hence why you can actually buy two paint shades the same name(say Jade Green as it's one of the easiest colors to vary the shades of due to how Jade is in nature) yet end up with slightly(and sometimes radically) different shades.
