If you have actually paid any attention to the movie you would see that alot of the original source material is in the movie. Alot of the lines are taken straight out of the G1 cartoon. All our fave characters are there and many of them have better designs than nearly most other incarnations of TF's since G1.
The CGI looks like its going to set a new standard in film animation and CGI, and the action is going to be epic, fast-paced and full of adrenaline.
I mean come on, you have Micheal Bay who knows how to direct an action sequence and GIANT EFFING ROBOTS all in one.
This movie can do nothing but be a huge success!
And as for ruining your childhood goes thats a right load of crap.

I think a lot of us can agree that it looks to be pretty different from the G1 cartoons or even the recent comics, but you know what?
Thems the breaks. The movie industry is just that, it's an industry. People want to make money. As large of a fanbase as Transformers has, I think they've got a pretty large obstacle to overcome if it's going to be a financial success. Unfortunately, part of that does involve changing certain aspects to make it appeal to a more mainstream audience. I think that's a big reason why we've seen the emphasis on the humans, the change in designs, and other things (like the soundtrack.)
At the end of the day though, should any of this really matter to a fan? What is Michael Bay destroying, if anything?
Everything you love about the Transformers franchise is certainly not going away. The G1 cartoons, the comics, the toys are always going to be there, and so will all of your fond memories.
I personally don't think the movie will end up being too horrible, in seeing how it's been shaping up so far. Different from G1? Definitely, but I don't think it'll be the apocalypse-bringing horror that some people are making it out to be.
So long as I'm entertained by it, and get to see some sweet giant robot fights, I'll be pretty happy. And so far, it looks like the movie is really going to deliver on that.
That's my two cents.

Apparently, the State of Michigan is very, very lenient on who they give out Liquor Licenses to.

What's that, you want to be banned for breaking rules again?
