The one I linked to was the Season 1 opening, the lava one is Season 2, but IIRC they used to change the openings to the most recent one when a new Season came out. So the reruns of previous seasons would run with the new opening. The DVD releases have some episodes with the wrong openings because (I think) they couldn't get the original tapes, so had to use later ones with the wrong opening.

Personally, it didn't bother me, but I remember a lot of people getting worked up about it a few years ago.

For those episodes where they couldn't find the original tapes, why didn't they just copy the titles from season 1 and then cut the season 2 titles off the season 1 episodes and cut it together that way? I could do it on my home VCR / DVD recorder. Surely they could, too.

Not that it bothers me.

Because that would be more work, and therefore more expense.

Very true. Perceptor and Blaster were also season 2 characters.

How did Shockwave make it into the cartoon right from episode #1 when he wasn't a 1984 toy?

Hasbro bought the rights to use the toy for there toyline very early but they didnt reproduce the toy fast enough to have them on shelfs when he made his first aperance.

All dinobots were in the movie, just strangely snarl just appeared in little background clips.

And all the Gestalts and Omage were missing, cos, now this is what I think:
They wanted the Guys from the first few seasons to die, and let the movie look real dark and unplesent for kids.
So if Omega would have been there, he would have kicked all the Cons singlehandedly!

I didnt say Shockwave wasnt in the movie......just that he was bought from an other company. He was not a Takara owned toy.

Oh sorry, I misread.

Oh and Omega was in the opening credid of the first season, just like Astrotrain and Blitzwing!

Thats the second season opening.

So what's the point in telling me something I have been toled by others before, even pointing out that my copies have the that version?

One of the TFTM trailers said that the movie took two years to make. I'm sure that had a lot to do with some characters not being there.

It's probably my fault.....I have a habit of lumping my post together and they end up looking like one big sentance.

One of the most interesting facts for me that came from the UK commentary for the recent re-release of TF:TM was that GRAPPLE is in the movie! I never used to spot him, but he's there. I almost wondered if it was supposed to be Inferno as he's credited in the movie.

He's in the battle scene background, btw, when Perceptor makes a run for it :D

There were also a couple more pointed out that I never spotted e.g. Beachcomber and Gears.

It's a good commentary, I recommend it!
